Hi all.
I have done a little homeporting! But i just want to know what "stage" you can call it?

I have done:

Removed all castingflaws at the transfers in the bottom are completly cleaned and smooth and grinded down..

I have lifted the exhaust a little, but widened it and when im done its gonna be like a mirror..polish polish polish

The intake is grinded big! :) along with the little flat square hole, i have NOT drilled worm holes though.

I have left the transfers in the bore stock shape and size i dont wanna mess to much inside the bore, but I have however grinded with sandpaper carefully alle the edges a little bit smoother.. so they are not sharp..

Here are a little before and after:

What category could you call this? Mild port? Medium port? Trail port? I know its not dragster port ! :D haha..

maybe a clean up port ,according to your description i would say its not even considered a mild portjob by most standards ,you might get a tad better throttle response and one or two more usable hp

Yeah a lassek porting.. haha...

FLOTEK:

you are kidding me right? The intake is big and so is the exhaust? cleaned totally the transfers... youre not saying that it only gives 1-2 HP??????

The only diffrence between my port and other port is i left the 4 holes inside the bore the same size.. according to a 2stroker tuner guide that is actually the best to do, ..... So why is my port not powerfull compared to others? I mean several people said they had very noticeable diffrence with less porting than mine! only cleanup and some exhaust..

note: i used pictures from other porting to do my job.

OR do porting generally give 2 HP ? because then porting sucks bigtime !

I have not mounted the kit yet as im still waiting for Toomey B1 kit and gaskets from the states.. and a Vforce V3 reed from UK

lassek.. dontget him wrong, cleaned up ports are worth it also, better flow, with rhe ability to get the air/fuel charge to mix better, 1-2 hp of good useable power is still better than none, alot of power comes from port work, and reshaping the ports, and head redesign.

cleaning up a 1970's designed port layout is like putting rabbit ears on your big screen plasma tv ,dont get me wrong there is noticable increases on just getting things smoothed out to flow better and knocking down casting flaws and eddies, but it requires major rework to make strong power

haha, good analogy, i concur from what i have learned from reading and lsiten to FLOTEK, he really knows his sh*t and knows how to make ur engine perform, ask anyone with his p/p job, i would like to pick ur brain somtime denny!

go to macdizzy .com ,read over the site board then reread it again ,he gives a pretty good rundown on what needs addresed on a blaster cylinder and a basic rundown on how to manipulate the ports ot favor a desired powerband ,it wil l atleast give you a solid refernce point on what to do if you want to do it yourself with a die grinder

Hey again.. Ok i guess I should be happy then! lol .. using hours hours and hours on porting and grinding and sanding.. :( .. but ok everything counts..

But im sorry i forgot to say that I also mill the head .035" and redesign the head to a bigger dome.. if you are taking that into consideration .. then what can I expect of that setup, instead of only 1-2 bhp ? ... 5bhp? less/more?

please tell me you read a good bit of porting stuff??? and read it about 10 times,.... and not just winged it to do what you think would work????

if you dont have a pretty good idea of what to do and where to do it , you can actually hurt performance

idk man when it comes to quads and bikes and whatnot you usually get what you pay for and if flowtek is saying 1-2hp i wouldnt complain to much its an extra 1-2hp that you didnt have before and its free.
may i ask what is keeping you from just ponying up the money and sending it to one of the builders on this site??
just money issue?

Samolia:

Yes money is of corse an issue always.. Its because I have bought Vforce V3 reeds, Complete Tommey B1, original MX pro Yamaha clothing and boots and extras.. so at this point .. i dont have 1$ more for quad/atv..

The other thing is i live in Europe...So the shipping and time it properly would take is not a thing i want at this moment........

The last thing is instead of paying hundres and hundres of dollars for porting.. maybe it would be wiser to buy a big bore instead? (Vito?)

I am though getting the head milled and redesigned.. after specs from a highly respected tuner guide..

But the cleanup and widen exhaust a little.. i just do it..

well bolt ons will only get you so far ,just find a reasonable performance shop in europe where you live ..if you cant afford it then wait till you can,as mentioned earlier you could trash your cylinder if you dont know what your doing. theres a reason people pay shops to do this ..they use porting software programs and have the right tooling many years experiance cutting and testing on them knowing exactly what needs addressed to make the most usable power and benefit

I know you live in Europe but you can always just do like I did... Just save up the money and get in touch with RJATV and buy a Vitos's BB kit and have him ship it to Flowtech have it ported and then ahve it shipped to you. This way you are not paying the extra shipping charges. It was kinda pricey at the time but there really isn't any sence in spending $600+ on a big bore kit if you are not going to have it ported to get the max performance out of it. I'm sure you could always find a used stock jug somwewere over there and send it off to have ported and then you won't have to have any down time from riding. A ported stock jug will out perform a non ported BB kit just remember that.

I send it to the man Denny. Why cause he is a professional and has countless hours of time into R&D and knows his stuff. No good porter or builder will give out any secrets or numbers because they have worked hard for it.IMO just save some cash and send it to a good builder before you go to far and ruin the cylinder.IMO
