the reason for the question i have a friend that works at an auto auction and gave me a tip on a pair of 2001 660 raptors the auction gets them every once in a while and he even picked up a 03 or 04 grizzly from there for under a 1000. But i love my blaster but would like something a little bigger for some of the stuff i have to ride around here.

i just love this blaster since all the new parts it stands up and rips ass through my track and trails it just has issues with water and hills lol

my cousin and braaaptor smoked a pair of 660's on the drag strip at busco on braaaptors trail ported, stock bore, stock stroke blaster

Yup! We took turns riding my Blasty and both of us tore 'em up much of the time.

That said, I have nothing against Raptors, but I'd rather spend the $$ that would go towards a Raptor on my Blasty to make it faster. For $ 1,000, you can buy all the engine work you need and an extended swinger to help you control the new power.

Raptors are top-heavy and somewhat hard to control. A 660 has two carbs...double (potential) trouble. Don't forget that unless somebody has kept up the oil changes, you may be in for lots of expensive top end work should the engine start smoking and need rings/bored/etc. Also, a Raptor cylinder head has 5 valves which all need regular adjustment. I'm just sayin'...owning a 4-stroke is a lot more maintenance-intensive than owning a 2-stroke. I know; I also have a TRX450r. On that note, if you can get a good enough deal on a quad that isn't all ragged out, go for it! I love my 'poker in spite of favoring the Blaster. lol

Torque MONSTERS! my buddy has an '02 660 and it will just pull wheelies bumping the throttle, from what he's been told its stock except for an HMF exhaust and A-arms. (retired flat-track race quad). They're worth it in my book, I'd get one if i had the cash, but then again all of my other toys would be tip-top if i did :p

my one buddy showed up with a piped 660 about 2 seasons ago, i smoked his ass all day long on the trails, he resold it 2 weeks later

well thanks for the info and opinions i am going to keep the blaster for sure . This is just a chance to pick up 2 more quads for a cheap price and have an extra for friends that come over and something for me to play with lol

def keep your blaster unless you have money too spare and for all you know you could get one and it blows up after one ride atleast with 2 strokes it blows up not much in fixing and alot of DIY on a blaster if your a little mechanically inclined :) I just was offered a basically a 400ex for mine and i said no I don't want that big headache again I plan on keeping this turd
