Two rebuilds...underway

Took it out for a ride today. Everything was perfect after adjusting the tors screw. The only thing I noticed is that its a hard to get into fourth without bogging for a while unless I'm at the very very top of third when I shift. And sixth is practically non existent. I'm assuming that's from the 22 inch tires. I'm probably going to have to get a smaller sprocket to make up for it.

If the engine is faltering anywhere in any gear at any throttle opening then you jet settings should be revisited.

Changing sprockets will not compensate for a jetting condition, all that will do is aggravate the matter.

A perfectly jetted stock engine has no problems ripping in 6th gear with 22" tyres.

Something's is defiantly wrong.

When the bogging begins, pull out the fuel enrichment knob and report back with the findings.

When it's on the main jet it runs fine...it has to be something with the pilot then, right?

I'll have to do that with the choke tomorrow when I get home from work.

The choke test will answer that,

If the condition gets worse with the knob out the move the needle down (leaner)

If it gets better lift the needle ( richer).

The choke test has to be done withe the throttle in the position where the condition exists.

Take care it is not so easy to adjust the choke knob when riding at speed!

Only thing I have is this.

There are 2 screws down inside the slide to be removed and allow the needle to be accessed.

Thanks man.

I would assume that since the f7 is a new addition that it needs more fuel causing itbtobrun lean. Which would mean I need to richen it up. I'll check in the morning to verify.

Not sure about an F7, but I know that a DMC loves the needle rich.

Low end pipes seem to be thirstiest and the top en variety a little less so.

Im running 22 wooly boogers an my bike destroys every gear with no bogs, lags, or hesitation anywhere from idle to wot. You definitely have a needle issue, is it stock needle an is it straight an not worn down towards the end that goes into the emoltion tube, I dont run stock carbs but my buddy has a flotek stroker with stock carb that denny bored to a 28mm, its stock needle an the clip is in 4th slot, had fmf fatty exhaust which is low end pipe, an its on a 300 main, Denny set the carb up an its never had to be messed with, its perfect from idle to wot also.

Someone that's never played with a needle before might have misunderstood that, by move the needle down, he means raise the clip, (leaner) by move it up, me means move the clip DOWN (richer)

Yeah it's the stock needle. I remember cleaning it before and I lost a clip or something. It's a bit wobbly now...I have a carb rebuild kit so I'll use the new needle and clips from that.
