trans oil turning grey

i dont know for sure but that seems like the only logical thing that could cause that but if it still has good compression that wouldnt really make sense. Maybe weak spark and not all the fuel is being burned? or is the vent hose getting water in it somehow?

Gas won't do that. Do you power wash it a lot? Water could be getting in when you spray kick start, sprocket, or clutch arm. Do you have a hose on trans vent?

I Bet It Smokes More Than Normal As Well , Sounds Like A Crank Seal To Me , Only Way to get fuel in there is through the piston down into the case and into your trans , Well thats the only way i would see gas getting into trans ?

my oil turned grey in my shee when i went threw a creek so i assumed it got water in the over flow line

Is your trans line vent installed ? Do you keep it outside ?when the oil turns grey, that's water mixing with the oil. It could be from the vent line not installed , a lot of water crossing, lots of condensation from hot days and cool nights with high humidity.

Def Sounds like you need to flush it Refill and find either the leak or just the tube , Make sure your Tube for Crank case is Re routed after you do this to Prevent it from Happening Again

I have a vent hose. I always wondered were it should be routed. My buddie goes up under gas tank, my other friend has his hanging down between the swing arm ( I didnt like that idea) I have mine up under my seat. It has been hot and I did power wash the crap out of it a couple weeks ago. I will change the oil again and put a new hose on it. Any one put a vent filter on the end of one or run it to your air box ?

It should be routed up under the tank and the end should finish just under the hood.

No need for a filter, and it should not be put into the airbox, as that would tend to create a vaccuum in the gearbox.

The breather is there to regulate pressure due to expansion and contraction.

I use to have my ventt hose hanging under the back plastics above the rear sprocket but I've since moved it to the airbox with a small filter on it. I just drilled a hole put the hose through then put a little bit of silicone around it to keep it water tight. Oh and put it up as high as you can in the airbox so that if you ever get water splashing in your airbox and it accumulates it wont get up to the point where that vent hose is at

You should have about 6" of the end under the hood horizontal. It helps any water that gets in the end run back out and not drain into the trans. It wont stop a 100% of it but it will stop most of it.
