As long as that tranny has had the oil changed and has a big cooler it's probably fine. The AW4 in XJs (and the 93 ZJ) gets swapped into rock buggies all the time....that's how good it is!! Just keep it cool and lubed up well and it will last forever. If sh*t happens, they're a dime a dozen too, as are most parts on the jeep, which is why they're so great!!
