^^^ How are those lil Chinese quads? are they ok? specifically for a new un experienced rider... I will most likely be doing the maintenance so are they relatively reliable and somewhat dependent. There automatic right?

The off brand China Quad are just plain headaches. Most are hard to find parts for and always break down. My Grandson has one and it just sits in a garage. Something needs to be fixed every time he rides. It's well worth the extra money to get a Nam brand Quad.

Put new tires on it. What a pain. But we got it home. The tongue was sitting on the ground and the lift was full extended and sunk into the earth. It was also rusted and we had to cut it off after leaving a 4 inch trench threw the yard...lol

I couldn't really tell you yet. They both been fine so far, but I got em last fall. I have maybe 30 minutes ride time on each. They are both pretty cheaply made, not made to last. We will see how long they make it. They are both full auto cvt transmission. I'm not sure how I like it yet, sucks compared to a blaster, but they are for beginners so that works out. Still can't get the 150 running right, but I think its that vacuum slide carb. Seems to top out at about 3k, maybe 20 mph. Gonna try a cheapo replacement, and if that don't work, I'll convert it to a round slide. Could be something in the exhaust I guess, so I'll prob check that out. The 150 doesn't really have a neutral either, so you cant sit and rev it.

I finshed Fixing the one I got for free today, and gave it to the neighbor girls. This was my first experience with a chineese pile, and all in all, it wasn't too bad. I think what really helped the most was it was the Lifan Motor. (Honda Clone)

This thing ended up needing a starter, solenoid, and I had a hard time getting the ignition circuitry right. Ended up being a brake switch sensor that was keeping it from starting. We bypassed it and it turned right over.

Parts for this particular 110cc motor were a dime a dozen on Ebay. I had $21 for the starter, and $5 for a solenoid. The only problem I see with these replacement parts are that they are also mass produced, no quality control Chineese junk and will proibally last a year or so.

Electrically, these things are a nightmare. There are quite a few things that made this model's igniton system work. That sensor, a teather, the key, a remote kill switch, the kill switch on the bars, and the brake light. I still don't know how, what or why the brake light is a factor, but if it isn't taking power, no turning over.

The good thing is 2 little girls got a quad, and are excited. That made the whole project worth it to me.

Well we had a blast today! Nothing better than seeing the family smile, although I saw a lot of scared faces today too:eek: Started off a little rough. Got my blaster and daughters quads to the shop, got hers all set and started on mine. Got it ready, and was just checking everything over, when I saw the nut for the top of my shock was gone! I figured no biggie, I bought a 400 ex last fall and had Kens bushing kit. Well I was wrong, 2 hours later I finally had it done. An hour of that was because I wanted to try the blaster spring on the shock. I ended up using a couple ratchet straps to compress the spring and got it off finally, only to then find out the inner diameter was about 1/4 inch or so to small to fit properly on the shock. Then kens bushings were great, but a super tight fit, had a hard time getting the shock in and then the bolt in. Had to cut part of my airbox and one of the rear plastic mounts too. So maybe it wasn't the 400 ex shock, I thought they were supposed to go right in. Here's a pic installed

As for the rest of the day, I'm not good at taking pics, so waiting on others to get them to me, but here's a couple

I stopped for a potty break there ^^ I was checking out the power line road to see if the kids could ride it. I could only go from where I was to that last pole in the pic, but it was all rutted up cause they just put in new poles recently, so the kids didn't get to ride it. I ended up cutting through the woods cause I knew I wouldn't make it back up that hill without laying on my back because of the ruts. Here's a pic of the area we rode, its just a few miles from me, and I know everyone that lives out there, we hung out and had some corned beef at one of my buddies.

The star is my buddies, and the red is where we road, blue is the power line rd, the bottom corner is about where I stopped for the pic.

So I had a blast on my blaster. It actually seems like it is quieter now that it is broke in, or maybe I'm just getting used to it. Love riding it though, and it ran like a top today, except the one time I ran outta gas lol, good thing for reserves. We got some rain this afternoon and my 13 year was tearing the mud puddles up, she was a mess. Couldn't talk her into trying out the blaster yet. My 10 year old loved her first quad, and we just about couldn't get her off of it. That little china quad did good, lacks power on take-off and if you hit a big hill going slow, but otherwise scoots pretty well with her on it. Got to see her O $#it face a few times today too, but she stuck with it. Gf liked her quad too, but she had to work most the day so she only got to ride for a few. Oh and the 18 month old took turns on everybody's lap, just puttin around. She couldn't get enough. We all had a great time though, can't wait to go out again, I'll try n get a few more pics up when I get em.

good stuff Tony !

thats a 450r shock with the offset rezzie.

did you use the "my tracks" app to map your ride today ?

Anybody else have the problem of their kicker getting stuck on the guard/footpeg thing where it hits. Mine has been doing it every 2 or 3 kicks, really annoying. Gets caught on the frame side of this thing

did you install the kicker leaning too far back? as in not straight up and down? would cause for extra pivot whilst kicking and get stuck

and the shock pictured is a 450r shock not 400ex. just letting you know. the off-center part on top means 450. a 400 is straight up

proper grammar bruh ;)

yeah ok, speak murican english or go ride kangaroos :)

While and whilst
from English Grammar Today

While or whilst?
While and whilst mean the same when we use them as conjunctions. They both mean ‘during the time that something else happens’, or ‘in contrast with something else’. While is much more common than whilst, and whilst sounds more formal: (retarded)

Would you like something to eat while we’re waiting? (less common: … whilst we’re waiting?) (during the time we’re waiting)

British English prefers an ‘s’ for words like realise, compromise and industrialise, while American English prefers ‘z’ (realize, compromize, industrialize). (less common: … whilst American English prefers ‘z’ …) (expressing a contrast between British and American English)

Wow over a week with no comments on here. Anyway anybody ever use the T style bore gauges? Not like I'm gonna be doing any machine work, but it would be nice to have to check out my truck when I get the motor out, and for that someday I can get into working on and flippin quads. I seen sets of em for under $20
