Sorry but gotta go into some detail, sorry to bore ya. Lot of work was put into the engine in the pic below. I ended up with a broken finger, and it was the day after my HS prom.
I've owned 2 nice cars in my day a 99 solar yellow dakota r/t(ran low 12's) and a 04 GOAT. Wised up and now drive a 4 banger ranger w/ 158k on it (700$ and I'm second owner). I had to give up one hobby or the other... riding or building vehicles. Obviously I picked riding and building quads!I:I While I owned my Dakota R/T I was in a local area car club. It was called MADR/T(metro atlanta dakota r/t)...
Anyways, during one of our get togethers before a national show we polished most of the cast and billet pieces on bradley jamesons engine.
I can't take credit for all the work but I helped. Anyways in a matter of 3-4 hours and using no white rouge, last step was tripoli. we polished some of the aluminum and stainless under the hood.
NO sand paper was used... It was all greaseless compounds, emery, tripoli, and one other compound that is right below tripoli in it's cutting ability... never saw it before or again. Anyways before starting, this truck had 128k and the AC compressor (cast), alternator(cast) had heavy nicks from wrenches hitting it.
Anyways, from then on I was sold on greaseless compounds....
Here's a link of the engine 3 days after polishing:
