The build has begun!

as far as i know....all that square thing is for is to protect the oil injection lines, i hacked mine out of there lol

I'll probably cut the front fender bars too because I'm gonna get race cut fenders. Still a few odds and ends left before i get to polishing that bad boy

yeah man, i cut the brackets off for the lower fender brace, and then ground off the cable guide for the parking brake and stuff too.

O yeh...that too...i done cut off most brackets not needed. I may clean up the swingarm this weekend and get it blasted and polished. Polish polish polish...I'm ordering more dremel pads and got the big tub of mothers too. I gotta figure out a way to sand off the inner part of the front and rear hubs smooth so i can polish them like i did the outside of the front hubs. They turned out awesome!

well some of it will remain polished...but alot like the hubs and other parts will have the transparent orange over the polished....looks 10x better than using chrome powder or silver for a base coat.

Well I believe this thread should sum up everything you wanted to know about the blaster....lol

When i get my a arms, i will mod the mounts for more travel as Phragle brought that up a few pages back...so we will see how well that will work out

Caswell Inc. Metal Finishing Forums

For those deep recessed places and the rough castings or smoothing burrs use greaseless compounds. Makes the polishing job look more uniform and shaves hours off of hand sanding. Theres a few stages after that, but worked in a finishing shop for a while back in the day in HS. This forum provides a massive amount of information about powdercoating techniques, plating techniques, metal finishing in general. You may have already known about it.

GBC4 Greaseless Compound Kit - 1 Each 600, 400, 240, 180, 120, 80 Grit Bars $33.99
----^ that is basically the answer to your problem!

Some of the guys on that forum REALLY know their stuff. Thought I'd give you the heads up if you didn't already know about it.

WARNING, this site is addictive and hopefully your wife doesn't get as mad as my gf did...... I began reading the forums and buying massive amounts of polishing equipment.

Actually I am a member on there under the same name as here...ordered some of my powders from there and built my powder coating oven using that forum! I totally forgot about the metal finishing portion of it. Thanks man!

Sorry but gotta go into some detail, sorry to bore ya. Lot of work was put into the engine in the pic below. I ended up with a broken finger, and it was the day after my HS prom.

I've owned 2 nice cars in my day a 99 solar yellow dakota r/t(ran low 12's) and a 04 GOAT. Wised up and now drive a 4 banger ranger w/ 158k on it (700$ and I'm second owner). I had to give up one hobby or the other... riding or building vehicles. Obviously I picked riding and building quads!I:I While I owned my Dakota R/T I was in a local area car club. It was called MADR/T(metro atlanta dakota r/t)...

Anyways, during one of our get togethers before a national show we polished most of the cast and billet pieces on bradley jamesons engine.

I can't take credit for all the work but I helped. Anyways in a matter of 3-4 hours and using no white rouge, last step was tripoli. we polished some of the aluminum and stainless under the hood.

NO sand paper was used... It was all greaseless compounds, emery, tripoli, and one other compound that is right below tripoli in it's cutting ability... never saw it before or again. Anyways before starting, this truck had 128k and the AC compressor (cast), alternator(cast) had heavy nicks from wrenches hitting it.
Anyways, from then on I was sold on greaseless compounds....
Here's a link of the engine 3 days after polishing:

Didn't see a couple of pages at the beginning. What type of air compressor are you using to power your sandblast cabinet set-up? sorry to steal the thread.

I gotta 30 gallon Kobalt, with another 25 gallon tank piped into it. So I have close to 60 gallons...takes a little time to build back up but it does the job with aluminum oxide media, or glass media.

Currently modding the appearance of my rear banshee hubs and rear sprocket hub. I'm doing some welding and grinding and smoothing it all out...should be finished tomorrow and polished. will post up pics tomorrow evening for you pic whores.

Also...when the funds allow...gonna buy an anti vibe bar clamp and convert the top of the stem to anti vibe. I believe YZ Otis made his own set before and I checked out his write up on it, so i will follow that and add to it a little for my own personal touch.

That's all for now..
