The build has begun!

Alright screw that idea because the carrier pieces extend inside the tubing and there is no space inside to slip it on. Well back to square one...I like the blasterzone swingarm so i may call them up. What the hell...worth a shot

No money....trying the most economical way. I bought this welder, and am taking it back once my swingarm is done. I have came up with another idea...

oh ok....i always hated adjusting tha factory carrier....what a pain...you know you can actually adjust the chain and axle out of square????? hahahaha

Ok so I put some thinking together today and came up with this. I really hate using flux cored wire because I can never get the settings right for a good weld. Looks like I got alot of grinding to do. Plus I'm going to gusset between the 2 bars in the rear for strength. I will cut this down some, but for right now this is the raw looking swingarm for now. Guess i did find a new use for this ebay swingarm after all! Saw some holes thru the swingarm that needed welding so i did that as well. After i get it all welded up with the carrier, i'm going to clean up all welds and round everything off that looks nasty to make it look a little better.

Here is the carrier i'm gonna use

And the housing

I really want this to be a +3 swingarm....but before i put the housing on it, I'm gonna bolt it to the frame and see how it looks with the plastics and where the wheels will sit.

i love jj and a. they have some really nice sh*t. is that a "garage sale" carrier? they are hardly used most of the time.....their carriers and most parts are gorgeous.

looks good so far dude, cant wait to see this....honestly i've never seen anybody try this...so good luck....

Really B? Noone has ever attempted putting the round carrier on? Well I contacted jj&a and got all the info on the parts i need. Really all i need to do is cut a round shape in the swingarm, make sure it's square, Then weld it up. Of course I am gonna add some gussets on either side of it. I believe whenever i get a skid plate. I'm gonna weld up some steel tabs where they need to be mounted and be done with it. I hope it all works out as planned. I spent some of last night, and most of the day today figuring out what to do. My 4" grinder crapped out on me, so i put the grinding wheel on my die grinder and slowly removed a little here and there.

I ordered those rear hydro's that are made for a shee, so it will bolt up nicely seeing i have the shee axle and brake hub as well. If all goes well with this swingarm, i may try to do something with some front a arms to extend them a little. I am gonna get gas for my welder at some point. I have flux core wire.....to make it official....I hate flux core wire for the third time! LOL I was watching the heat and I had awesome penetration with the welds and it heated up a radius I'd say of maybe 1". So this swingarm should hold up to some abuse. We'll see...

what i meant was i've never seen anybody take a stock swingarm and convert it to a round carrier....using basically the whole swing arm but adding the round carrier part to it.....usually i just see a new swingarm installed....but it looks like you got a good start...

So after measuring from outside to outside of swingarm, I am almost 1/2" more than what the housings measure. It says they measure 6.290", and that is just a tad over 6 9/32. So here is my dilemma, the swingarm needs to be about an inch shorter in width to be able to notch out the square tubing and weld the round carrier housing to.

I thought I'd cap off the ends of the tubing, weld the housing to that, then gusset on top and bottom of the housing and swingarm, and to the innermost side of the housing and to the inner walls of the swingarm. But, my only dilemma is, the brake caliper mounts. If that carrier does not allow for at least 1/4" on the right side, then the carrier brake caliper mounts will hit the side of the swingarm. I may be fighting with this if I do the round carrier...but i'll be damned if a round carrier whoops my ass!

I'll fab up something...

Ok after sitting on the couch....i think I've figured it out. What ever amount I take off that swingarm, cut an angle in it to where it angles towards the carrier, then gusset the inside of that angle and cut the ends off to where it looks good on the bike, then notch the ends of the swingarm and weld. Gusset the housing and call it a day

Need a favor.....can someone go out and do a measurement for me? If you do measure....make sure you tell me if it's extended any or stock. I need a measurement of your swingarm from the tip of swingarm where the pivot points are, to the center of the carrier.

Much appreciated!!

WOW bro is all i can say great work and good craftsmanship.. good pics and write up thus far.. wanna see boobies with grease but that can wait lol..

Question on the foot pegs.. i take it you just cut some off another and tac'd them together? thats kinda what im looking to do..

lastly as far as your oven.. im trying to build one with a few friends..would you mind helping me out in the thread.. i'll post it tonight IF the author's bandwidth hasnt exceeded yet.. thats the error ive been getting..

again great job man.. the orange will look sick.

Thanks man! Yeh I just cut some pegs off another and grinded to fit, then I tacked them together and shot one continuous bead down the bottom of the pegs. Shot some weld up the fronts and rears of the pegs too for extra strength.

Yeh I'll help ya out on your thread! Just let me know the link to it and I will post up as much as I can. or they have alot of great ideas here:
