The build has begun!

Saving for the front a arms now...just paid for my front Banshee rims. Medical issues with the back and arms have permitted me to do anything in the last week...

You're telling me man...injections and nerve blocks...it's getting old! After grinding last weekend my right arm went numb from the elbow down and i still have pain in that but it's slowly subsiding with no activity on it besides a keyboard...I stare at the blaster every day and say....someday....someday you will get ridden again!

Just doing some comparing on the stock shock and the works Banshee front shocks i have....check out the shock body length and overall length.

Works on the left....stock on the right

So what length front shock would constitute a long travel shock? I am thinking on going long travel for the front as well as the rear...just had a new MX track open up about 20 miles away that is a $10 all day riding on a track created by a guy who bought land and wanted to do something for the community because the lack of places to ride around here. Great place to play or just tune in the suspension, and when I get this completed, i wanna hit it and see what this Blaster has in it....

oh and I believe the stock shock was busted...I pushed it in and there was zero force on the rebound. I had to pull it back out...

After consideration of locating the rear hydro brakes...I came up with this. Since i can't run foot guards...I cut the tabs off that secure it to the frame, and used them to mount it up.

First i grinded down where the brake cable hooked up at, and just made it to where the spring would connect

Then i cut off the tabs for the foot guards from the frame, and mocked up where it would sit. Then i welded the first tab, then bolted up the hydro cylinder, and bolted on the second tab, and moved the cylinder up to where it would meet the frame, and welded. Here is the final tabs welded

Here is the hydro cylinder bolted up

Here is the steel i gotta fab up next that engages the cylinder. I got it cut at the front to go around the brake pedal and ready for welding, and mocked it up to the cylinder for alignment

After this, frame gussets will be made and welded, and then its ready to strip and get ready to powder coat it!

Thanks man....got my bid in on a trx 250r shock again too...this time I'm gonna get one, and put the 400ex shock up for sale.

I'm wanting ASR front long travel a arms...and i contacted ASR and asked them the recommended shock size for long travel and they said 16 1/4" from eye to eye for their long travel a arms....so I may be working with the works shocks with them for now, then moving up to a bigger shock and sell the works shocks. right now they are about 15 1/2" from eye to eye....so a little too small for them

yeah, i kept my extra mounts that i cut off for the heel guards and the lower fender mount. just in case i wanted to mount something or needed to

Yeh i found alot of things you can re-use when custom fabbing things...rather than trashing it.

Did you use different fenders because of cutting off the rear fender mounts? Are they really necessary to bolt up the rear fenders where they are held in place at the bottom of them? I would think they would flop around some?

o no no i cut the lower ones off for the front fenders for that little cross brace. i've got a maier front end so i don't need that

Oh ok....gotcha....I'm gonna get some Maier orange plastics too, but gonna run the race cut front fenders, and the 03+ hood. So I'll need the fender braces for the front. I like the race cut, but I can't find any good light combo that looks good for me. I'll be using a light some for night riding...so I can't eliminate it.

So far so good...i'm aiming for a good smooth ride, and so far with phragles help, I am achieving some long travel for the rear, and gonna work on the front too. Certainly gonna be a nice change from the stock ride! I'd like to have an anti vibe steering stem, but I need to save more for that, and right now i'm itching to ride soon! It will be an addition after i get it up and ride it a few times
