Sometime product reviews can be very entertaining ... LOL
For peeps lookin for an extended swing arm. Just build to your needs & budget so you can enjoy riding. If you're not drag racing ya don't need an extreme port job. If you're not going to be riding a famous rock mountain ya might not need a tank, If you're not gonna be runnin the Baha 1000 ya probably don't need a long legged Blastersaurus. If you're not running a completive racing class ya probably don't need the best of everything. If ya don't need to prove ya can out spend everyone on a Blaster you can probably still have fun without some of the bling.
Some people run sand trails (although I've never seen anyone grooming them). Some peeps run 300' straight ahead. Some love the rock piles & some gotta have the mud. Some like to race in circles and some like to spend their time in the air. My guess is that the majority of riders like to do wheelies, donuts and bomb around with their buddies.
It's cool that everyone's so passionate about their path but with some reading you can cull out what ya don't have to have or can't afford and still have a nice solid bike. If you can afford it, by all means, get the best for your application. Just about every option you could imagine is on this forum.

Everything's relative and an argument can be made for most any point of view. Analyzing a picture of 1 application shouldn't decide a products value. I've yet to see a side view comparing all the available +4 swingers with a 400ex shock. I would also like to see a side view with a 100lb & 240lb rider to see where they sit with sag. Some peeps are using shocks from other bikes like the 250r & yfz. Is there a special mount location for those shocks? Will the builder put the mount where ever you want it? If so, how many peeps could really figure out where the shock should mount for their needs? Do you care about unsprung weight? Would you like the arm to give before the frame? Is chrome a major factor? Should it be +2, +3, +4 or more?
I'm not saying cheap out, bullet proof is a good thing. Just saying, use the search function, do your own homework and then pick your compromise.
Hang in there and soon you'll have an absolute opinion just like the rest of us ... Burp ... I just had to get in on the fun :)

My thoughts exactly. Do what you feel comfortable with. There is no need to be swayed by others opinions, but it is okay to take advice from others if you so choose.

Rep to Otis. Maybe ppl will start to understand instead of everything turning into a pissing match on here.

I'd like to add, If you don't do your own work, and have to have another do it, ask a lot of questions, then when you get your product back, check it over good, test it, then make an Honest review. And also give feedback!!!

As a SUPPORTING MEMBER on here, a seller of goods, helper of many, I would like to say if you purchase a product or service from another member supporting or not, and there is a problem with it, call, text, Pm that person and work out all the quirks as most members on here would bend over backwards to "FIX" any issue and make it right.

Im talking from my own experiences with members on here!

As an example, I sold a leaktester to a member on here when he recieved it one of the plastic nipples where the hose attaches was broken, that member Pm'd me the problem, I sent him a replacement part on my dime, no questions asked, ya he could of bought that piece at local hardware store for under a dollar but I am not like that. I don't know how it happened don't really care all I know is an member was unhappy and couldn't use his tester. He thanked me and all was good. It just all about the money to some and that's a damn shame!

You have to admit, there is a certain "protection" that goes on around here as if some can do no wrong!

Money is nice, but Friendships are Priceless!

I'll bet you feel a lot better now Otis I:I
Been searching and reading so much that my brain hurts :o Good thing is that "my" design is starting to be finalized (in my head). Take a little of this design , little of that, add a little of mine.

ALL designs are a comprimise in one way or another. Weight vs. strength, cost vs economical. As long as it fits YOUR needs that's what's important.

Actually hadn't thought much about a pi$$ing match going on (don't really care either) though seems to be a bit of stroking :o.

A lot of good points made in this thread. It seems the acceptance of an opinion is largely based on the amount of green dots someone has. Now that mine has got up there, I don't get bashed as quick as I used to. Maybe it's just that I watch what I say now.lol.

i agree with and value your opinion.

good post!

i don't believe i'm involved in any pissing match, although some of otis' post looks to be aimed at me, but what-eva.

ALL sevices, products being fabricated and sold, or even aftermarket parts on here are subject to scrutiny.
it keeps everyone honest and informed
and alot of that scrutiny has helped the "builders" build a better product next time,
i took alot of advice, good and bad, while perfecting my brake kits.
was there mass uproar....nope!

i see this same gang of "strokers" ragging on ken oconnor down in chat regularly
mass uproar....nope !

my reveiw thread on my swinger got hogged up with guys mentioning the homebrews, questioning it's cost, why "that beefy" was needed, and even had the last post..... "my nuts itch"
before i had to close it.
was there a mass uproar....nope !

as for my 1 post in ELVIS' thread, i was just relaying my experience to help him out,
and never relayed my thoughts on the swinger in question,
as i understood it, elvis is unhappy with the added height and was looking for ways to reduce it (in chat). i provided my personal expeience with 3 different shocks on a +4 swinger, in the thread to help anyone with this problem

that whole thread was still a good service to other members, to realize that "ANY" extended swinger adds some height, unless the shock mount is moved.
as that seemed to be not widely understood, and may or may not be disireable to all.
now they know.
cause for mass uproar....yep, lets riot !!!!!!
