Hey guys.. Umm i have a few questions, So i recently sold my 96 blaster to buy a banshee but just ended up buying a hell of a deal project blaster. So im rebuilding it now and everything is done. Only thing ive been working is on the motor.. Im getting older so i threw in a stroker crank with an aggresive trail ported cylinder bored 0.90 over with a shaved head. So the thing is that i will be riding this bike pretty hard after i break it in but i did not true and weld this crank (Did not have time or money.) I also put some pretty old bearing back in there with that crank.. I dont know if this will hold up.. Any advice or expirience with this crank with out the true and weld. In the future i will true and weld, and throw in some tz bearings.

you can skip the truing and welding, its not really necessary but if u got lots of extra money its a option.. as far as the bearings go nothing personal dude but that was grade A stupid.. all i can ask is why??? and dont say money because bearings can be had for $50 when u are risking your whole motor..

I'm with noober, you don't put in old bearings.
I mean you took the time to split the cases to have to do it again soon.
Thats best case senero.

I have re-run bearings that were in usable shape.... (Disclaimer: absolutely not saying that's the right way to do things) as long as it wasn't a piston explosion that took the engine out. I also checked the bearings before re-using for movement in any direction and scratches to the race surfaces. I don't re-use JUNK bearings but I'll re-use a bearing. In fact, the bearings in my yellow quad were used when I got that set of cases from mmajay. I checked them thoroughly and determined they were in fine shape from the PO and stuck my stroker crank in and rocked on. Been together several months now and you better believe, I'm NOT nice to my engines... in fact paulie, those were the used crank bearings in the blaster that I was following you through the woods on down at Busco....

For people who do NOT feel like risking an engine, however, I would agree with super noober and paulie. New bearings aren't that expensive compared to replacing a set of cases or crankshaft because the old crappy worn out ones came apart...

As soon as you pull, press or hammer the bearings out of your cases, they're junk. Toss them in the trash. Bearings are made to percice tolerances with a bunch of dudes walking around with hair nets. Why risk it? New bearings are the first part of a successful rebuild. Just buy the new Koyo bearings and have no headaches.

I will put every new crank on the stand to make sure that it is balanced correctly. There have been many times that I was able to get it closer to balanced than right out of the box. The welding isn't necessary.

Well im fuc&8@! .. if she blows she blows what can i say its all built up. And i did it all by myself, it was my first time doing it after watching my uncle carefully three times on three engines lol... Well watever i hope it lasts??
