Yes they did. That motor only had about 3 hours on it. I think we put one tank of gas through it. A guy bought it for his gf. That should be a good bike for a long time. We put a lot of time into that one.

2006 Yamaha Blaster

I want it mainly for shocks and arms. I will be doing a compression test, anything over 110 psi is good right? And i know you hold it at WOT and kick, but when do i know to stop?

I be be looking for more around 115, but don't quote me on that. You'll stop kicking when the needle on the guage doesn't go up anymore. If it has low compression it doesn't mean don't buy it. Just knock 200 dollars off your asking price. It's usually better that way. You can do a top end for around 150. Then it leaves you a little cash to put towards whatever you want.

That bike looks ok. Of course I am not a fan of the pipe and the tors still being on the carb. Looks like it's got some goodies though. I would offer 1500 with good compression and 1300 if it needs a top end. It says or best offer so he left some room in the price.

I called him and he said $1550 (i didnt want to drive there and disagree)

I was thinking $1200 if it has bad comp
How much would it cost to fix if it actually had bad compression?? I will use that as a bargaining factor I:I

Well it's about 90 for a wiseco piston kit, around 60 for bore/hone, and 15 in gaskets. So right around 160-175. When are you going to look at it? ASK ABOUT JETTING. that dg doesn't require a big jump in jetting but make sure he doesnt have the stock jet in there. Also question about routine maintenance. Ie changing gear oil, greasing pivot points and steering stem, air filter cleaning, and chain lubing. I am a stickler when it comes to maintenance and that's why I have no problem selling bikes.

Here the problem with all that. He doesn't know anything about it. He bought it two months ago as a deal to keep his kid off the video games, but it failed. I plan to just compression test and make sure it sounds normal, I don't want to tear it apart at his house...

I already ordered idle screw and TORs cap. And pipe is the first thing I plan to change on it lol

You consider 115 good compression? We ripped ours apart at 130 LOL dude I'de be looking for 140-150 as good compression and 170-180/190 on a fresh broke in top end. Sub-120 and you're looking at a lot of piston slap, scoring, etc. Hell, even one of my STOCK ATC110 motors I tear apart and rebuild at 125. But there's some goodies on there so that should be a deal. The bead locks are nice. The good is ugly though... Yuck..... Looks like a craptor.... But still. Goodies like the bead locks. Since that chain is so loose feel the rear end bearings and see how it is. Stand it up one the rear tires and see if you can rock the bike side to side and feel any play. If there is its either rear end bearings or swinger bearings. Hell, you can even check a arm and front wheel bearings that way.

I dont want to scare him with all that chuckie lol!

You said "The good is ugly though" Whats that supposed to mean?

I will have giz drive me there, he knows more about all that than me, and i will be asking him to help me decide with it all.

And i think most people want 120+ on compression... At what point does it need to be rebuilt? 90,100?

115 would be a little low. You are not going to have 170 psi in a stock motor:eek:
There would be no piston slap at 115. Normal compression is around 120. Could you imagine kicking 190psi with that little kicker? Good luck!

I should have said expect 115 or 120.

Alright, im kind of hoping its low, so i can use that to bargain...
How much would a new sleeve cost if it were on its last bore?

Or would there be a 240cc for sale by chance somewhere... 8-|8-|
