hey guys im new here. heres the back story. bought a new blaster in 01. fmf sst pipe pc2 silencer, 28mm keihn carb, had it ported at the now defunct trenga racing, oil blockoff kit, boysen rad valve, or aktive reeds in the stock cage, twin air or k&n filter w/o air box cover, or the cover with the vents in it. high compression head gaskit kit. had the head cut aswell to raise compression.

many moons ago i was riding it and it died crossing a river. it started and would idle fine but had zero power and could hardly move in first gear. i put new rings in it and it was totally fine. now me being stubborn as i am i went back to that river and i got acrossI:I but it got me on the way back. i got the same problem but i was never able to get it running right again. so i basicly forgot about it for almost ten years. it only has 2 years of ride time on it haha. mice have been pissing and crapping on it for almost a decade

tomorrow im gonna go dust it off and put it back together and see where shes at.

anyone have any tips or suggestions here? ill report back with my findings.

haha ill take some pics but i rode that thing hard and put it away wet!
i know ive done more but i simply forgot.

i think i may have eliminated the tors but could someone walk me through what im looking at? its been a loooong time.

i clicked on the ken oconnor link and his shop is 20 mins from my house might have to check it out!

20 minutes from ken oconnor, lucky dog.

well 4 sure, that long, you gonna need to replace, crank seals.

and befor eoyu even go cranking, add a littl teaspoon of oil into the cylinder, i hope they have not rusted to the cylinder wall and stuck, cuz, they will break, when you go to try and kick it over. but the teaspoon of oil in there for a day or two, is the first thing i would do.

no worries on the rings being stuck to the cylinder. i took the cylinder off when i parked it. its in my cellar. i looked at it the other day its still really nice. ill see if i can get her fired up. if not maybe ill bring it down to ken.

If ur running the 28 u won't have to worry about the tors

This is correct. Welcome to the site, BTW! I would be SURE to at least pull the bowl off the carburetor and check inside. If the carb was put away wet, it is likely gummed-up and will need cleaned.

Don't forget to check and service your chain and brakes before riding! A chain that has rusted-up links can break without warning and put a hole in your engine case. Don't chance it.

The crank bearings will be dry of oil from stanging so long.

Put a table spoon of 2 stroke oil either side of the crank so that it will run down to the mains area.

Also put a little oil on the crank pin bearing.

Grease the A arms.

I have discoved dying in a water crossing is a dead giveaway for an airleak. this problem perplexed me for a while. I passed a leakdown upon incial build but after some ride time my cousins blaster would die every time we crossed some water. especially when moving at decent rmp. our leak was in the bottom of the cases just under the crank chamber. we learned when sealing the cases you must install the stator screws to seal that section of the chamber

i snapped a couple pics yesterday on my phone after i dragged it outta the shed. ill upload them a bit later. under the seat was completly packed with mouse sh*t and nest...
