the way i did my toyota was welded a rod to the lock cylinder, but the toyota doors were very light, the s-10 doors are lot heavier you might have problems later on
Well I think it looked pretty good for home body work. It's tough stuff. You'll get it about perfect I imagine. Good luck with it bud. Put up pictures when it is finished completely. I'd like to see it.
i will man thanks...prob be a lil while before i do the finish work tho...been busy as sh*t w/ my sis's wedding just this weekend and i have to work all next weekend so who knows.
before u start putting alot of filler primer on it u might want to use some poly putty its better then alot of caked up primer and it sands really easy. i worked in a body shop for several years and it makes body work much easier
I have a kit to do my chevy half ton , but I'm gonna sell it ( sh*t give it away ) and use it on a newer silverado , my kit has those spring steel poppers that when the door solenoid is activated it pushes the door open slightly . I have done some other kits on mini's and a really good way to install the filler plate is to JB weld it from the backside , so you don't have a mess of tackwelds to grind , you just put a nice bevel around the edge of the filler plate and fit it up nice. excessive sanding and grinding of welds can put enough heat into a body panel to warp it , happened with my relocated License Plate Box ,
The rollpan is a steel unit , had to trim the ends for a good fit , but Like i said truck is going by by , gonna get a 08 or newer reg cab short bed half ton , I was gonna bag this truck , but other projects have put it on the back burner .
i usedto have a 91 s10 305 th350 411 rear end, iroc wheels, cutom painted way back in the day, shaved tail lights, roll pan with corvette tail lights, had shaved door handles, with poppers on both doors, drivers door had a button in the front wheel well, and the passenger door had a button on the dash to pop it
i molded my rollpan and im in the process of shaving my dash but for the door handles as blastard said jb weld then i used bondo-glass to hold it in place. strong stuff but its a biotch to sand
