what would happen if i were to take off those rubber things on the cylinder and head and run with out em?

They're for the vibrations. Not sure what it will effect if you take them off.

you just get more noise from the top end it just dampens sound and vibration. my buddy doesn't run any and it doesn't hurt anything

Those rubber things are like the other rubber things.

Sure, you can ride without them... but why risk it?

You can break a fin off but la /ct kits don't use them

You won't break a fin. They are used for noise purposes only. I've been riding without them since 04 and never had issues. It just gives off more noise that you hear via vibration from the fins. The vibration from the fins will eminate from the cylinder outwards anyways, so any possible chance of fins "flexing" is in no way dampened by the rubber spacers since they are on the outside of the fins anyways and only in certain spots. I took mine off merely for cooling purposes....even if it is only a minute amount, I want all the fin area/airflow I can get.

listin to old 70s dirt bikes. the make all kinda rattles.. same with my built 82 250r.. your hear the fins 'rattling'
