rim mounting went bad

im STILL pissed over it. but lol today, i tried to break the bead on my rim (the only one i have that he DIDNT touch) and had NO luck. i tried to do the methods on youtube but nothing. snapped boards and everything and i almost bent this rm too! lol. looking at my quad with the steels back on is like having two spare tires on the rear of a car. but the tires are nice (maxxis razr 18x10x8) they make the rear sit low to the ground and gives me more torque. but thats another story for another thread. i wish i could figure out to dismount the tire and remount new ones WITHOUT damaging anything idc how long it takes! i'd rather ME do it risk breaking it than trust another dip sh*t with my rim

I ended up buying the harbor freight tire changer on sale for under $40 and I mounted to a 16' buggy trailer. With this tool I was able to break the beads on a couple sets of tires, front & back, and I got the fronts on without a problem.

I thought about trying to wrestle some new rear raz'rs on my lady's 250ex rims, but decided to take them to a local shop for $10.

The rear tires can be put on by hand if you're willing to wrestle em on. And this is where the HF tool comes in handy. With the HF tool mounted firmly, you can also firmly secure the rim so it doesn't move. Even still, you best bring a lunch along with soap and a lot of time. You'll definitely get a work out.

If you're super worried about scratching your rims, a rag between the HF tools and the rim works good. And any scratch you get can be polished out. My rims are the stock steelies, so I don't worry about scratches.

the tires will give you more torque, but will also decrease your top end speed substantially. i went from 21s to 18s and yes it will give more torque but drop your top end speen alot. when i put my 18s on i also put a 14t sprocket on.

i knew that already. im an idiot i ended up buying a 14t srocket awhile ago and never put it on bc i bought 20"s and a 10" rim. i just like the look of bigger rims. since i run 20"s i should change the rear to what 38? i have the 13/40 on now. (gotta edit my sig)

not sure on the rear cause i am just running stock rear sprocket, but if you have the 13t on there with 18s then i highly reccomend putting the 14 on there

FML! so i get the replacement douglas rim in today, im excited about it so i take it to townfair tire, a popular tire store for those who know it, they refused to do it, ok fine.. so i called a few locals and one bike repair shop said the'd do it for 25 a rim. im thinkin thats FKN steep. what choice do i have? i go there and they mount 1 rim, looking good so far I:I, then a few minutes later the guy comes out with the other rim, BENT on the inside AND outside but not bad. tire was mounted. so i said W..T...F...?! i tell the guy "dude I JUST told YOU i what happened to my other rim" he said "i know man, i'll replace it" so i owe him 50 for mounting, he said he'll have to charge me to mount the damaged rim and deduct that from the price of the rim. which is 63. so he gave my back 38 and forgot about the other rim. i was tired of the BS with these rims and said FK it man give me the $ and left.. heres pics of the damage:

from PERSONAL experience. DOUGLAS rims are softer than baby sh*t. they bend like tin foil. this time i brought it to a spot that specialize in ATVs, dirt bikes, street bikes etc. they said they never had a problem with mounting til now (never delt with douglas b4). i just bolt the rim up i dont wanna go thru the BS again.. but since the rim is soft as sh*t im sure they can bend on trails or even big jumps. i wouldnt recommend these rims to anyone (douglas blue label)
