:-/ My 15 yr old is driving me crazy with this loud ex - I told him he better get it apart & some glass in it before we have to dance - well he confronted me on how best to get it apart w/o damage :-/

I was thinking propane and heat the ends of the outer casing :-/ of course after the 2 set screws are removed ;) was hoping some of you had some tricks to offer.

Here are pictures, he said it was a FMF silencer, its aluminum w/ a chrome pipe - I ride the same bike w/ a similar silencer its throaty but don't make your ears bleed like his.

you should be able to pull the bolts and then pull the end out without much issue. you may have to heat it to make it work but mine came apart pretty easy. you can also use steel wool to repack it with

use 0000 steel wool for it. its really easy to do, there's a DIY on the site.

phragle what are you talking about......all the neons/cavaliers/hondas/anything else with a 4 banger here has a 12 inch fart can on it and the sound echos off the buildings.....and if you talk to the owners they're the fastest car in town lol.

Thanks for the input, this SOB is tight on there, looks like the aluminum casing slides off.

it was just purchased and a few romps around the mountain & I told him that needs to be looked at - my quad is the same and nowhere near that noisy - just horrible X(

I have always used owens fiberglass in them, seems to mellow the tone alot, besides its very abundant - probably don't last as long as Steel Wool.

Thanks gents

i used fmf packing when i just repacked mine. my endcap was stuck on beyond belief, i ended up messing the end of the silencer up getting it out so i just took a chopsaw and cut a half inch off the end to square everything back up.
