i took the quad out on her first drive,
runned fine untill warmed up , then she tried cutting out on me and i had to rev the nuts off her to get her home. ?
not enough fuel possibly? any ideas.
by the way
the intake is clean, the carb is clean, the filter is clean,
143 psi compression
the pilot screw is set to 1 and 1/2 turns out.
if you need anymore info let me know.
please help asap. thanks

check the hose that the gas tank hooks onto the carb there can be dirt in that or the on and res and whatever can be messed up

right if it carrys on after that then what shall i do, i have a fuel filter on it aswell.
will that effect it?
what jet/needle is used for bottom to midrange rev?

that's the pilot jet, its really easy to get some junk in it and plug it up.

as speed demon was trying to say, check to make sure you've got good flow to the carb from the petcock.

here are the possibilities that i gather.. First these are classic symptoms of a tors malfunction, check over it and see if the wires u spliced for it are still tied in (depending on how you bypassed it). second its possible your floats may be sticking in the carb, some carb cleaner or a carb rebuild would resolve this. third the cdi may be dying a slow death, its rare but it happened (happened to me) . forth check aaaalllllll wiring once more. fith check the fuel delivery system.... my guess is its an electrical issue
*****dont forget about the parking brake sensor thingy dont know the official term for it lol with that thing depressed or grounded out it will idle perfect till you hit the throttle and cut out

hi, it doesnt cut out, i have to rev it anyhow because the tors has been removed, by previous owner.
yes wil get on to that
the previous owner replaced the original cdi with a cheap chinese one.
will this make a difference?
you have to really rev it backwards and forth and wait for the power to kick in
if it was on a car i would say the timing was out
but its a quad so a whole load different

the cheap Chinese cdi may be your issue. pic up an oem one on ebay, you can get em for cheap. have you checked your plug gap?, it would act as if the timing was off like in a car.

so if the plug gap was not right it would cause something like my issue (missifre)

yup yup yup yup along with with the possibility of a faulty cdi it would run like total crap if at all lol. 9 times out of then the problem is a ten second free fix, especially a 2-stroke, check the gap, ore just throw in a whole new plug just to cover all bases on that end, put yeah the gap is basically on of few ways that the timing is controlled. gap issues feel comparable to a coil going out on a 4 cylinder car or the timing is off by a few notches

ye i am going to try that coil and plug first
it has a iridium plug in it?
what are they like with 2 strokes?
its like i wack on full throttle and it takes ages to kick in.
hopefully changing them should sort my probelem
