Hi Everyone...My Oil tank cracked the other day and was wondering if anyone knows if all oil takes off blasters are the same or do they change in 03 ? My blaster is an 03.

Another question : Is it worth bypassing the oil tank and just using pre-mix ? Is it hard to do and whats involved ?

Thanks in advance, Phil

i just unhooked mine, took the tank off, plugged the line from the carb, and took out the plastic gear from my gear box. it was free and no problems yet

^^what he said, although to answer your qustion i do believe all the tanks are same. pre mix is a bit more of a hassle, but if you are serious about your quad you must go premix

Again sorry for the questions....Is that because You can be 100% sure Your getting the correct mixture verse worrying if Your injector will fail ? What is the benefit ? Thanks in advance, Phil

yes, but more so the fact that that little pump is diven by a series of gears which obviously turn at varying speeds dependant on engine speed. That means that at 1000rpm, it is pumping less oil than at 7000rpm, that is good as it is supposed to keep the AMOUNT of oil relative to the fuel being supplied but it does so by changing the RATIO of oil to fuel...thats not good. also, nobody really knows what that thing mixes at, at 1000rpm it might be 20:1 and at 7000rpm 40:1 and it is not adjustable as in the dt200 motor. Another good reason to leave it off is that of cavitation. That happens when you really wind it up, say 9000 + it may start to spin so fast that it circulates the oil around in its pump fins instead of actually pumping it through the system. street drag cars do this with their water pumps too. from my experience, the stock pump mixes less oil than 32:1 premix. but still that is just a guess

In layman's terms (LMAO, blaner kills me!) mixing oil/gas yourself is just more reliable than the pump. Too many people have lost a motor due to pump failure and yes you get to control the ratio. Get a kit. It's easy to do, and it comes with a nifty blockoff plate and a new side cover gasket.

Oh and save yourself some time and take off the right footpeg first. It's in the way.
