Oil Leak Under Stator

Can you identify what type of oil is leaking.

It just maybe that the gearbox is leaking and oil is finding its way to where it is accumulating.

Believe it or not the taste test works.

Ok, so, I should've look a little further. :-[ Apparently I need a new donut gasket on my exhaust, or I am so rich right now I'm blowing a ton of fuel thru.

I can't see for sure if it is coming out from behind the exhaust flange or if it is just blow back from the pipe. I will check for that tomorrow. But all that black you see is on the cases is wet and running down to the fly wheel cover and collecting on it.

So ya found the problem, sweet! Get that flange off, clean it, then put some Red RVT on that and slap it back on!

LOL, it kinda looks like that already...alas it is not though. I had to chop up an old TMNT Basketball to create my exhaust flange block/sealer for my leak down.

Anyhow, will the RTV stand up to that amount of heat??? I will have to check my packaging and see what the specs say. Also, wouldn't it be wiser to get a new donut gasket under it?

Nope, it was the result of a lazy rider, with clean clothes on and thinking about other things. I looked into the fly wheel area and it was dry up inside, the oil was only on the surface of the case where the cover seals. So then I started looking a little more and a little more...then got some cardboard and look underneath...that's when I saw the trail of black liquid coming down the cases seam, to the bolt location and running out toward the cover.

The sun was pretty hot today, :-[, it was affecting my thought process because of hydration....yeah, yup, that's what I'm going with.

LOL, I can smell, just not that well. Subtle differences are impossible for me to pick up. An unfortunate, or fortunate (depends on the odoriphorous emination), result of being sucker punched and allergies.

No, I prefer to not put things in my mouth that on the bottle reads, "If swallowed, induce vomiting and call your local physician." My brother got me to siphon some gas out of my other brother's dirt bike one time, so he could ride the 3 wheeler...well, I was 7 and he didn't tell me to be careful. Yup, I sucked and swallowed a bunch of gas. I hate puking, and I was forced to be gagged and throw up 3 times....it was more painful on the way up....but then I got all the milk and ice cream that I wanted for a couple days. I:I

So anyway, no, I didn't want to do a taste test, I was saving that for last resort. Besides, I wouldn't have known the difference in taste anyway.

Huh, I've never really thought of that. I won't speak for the companies that put that on the bottle, I would hate to be quoted and then told I was wrong.
