Just finished up my off season maintenance on the Blaster and thought I'd share a couple of mods I mixed in. Nothing you probably haven't already seen around here a bunch before, but I thought I'd share some pics as a way to give back for all the great info I've accumulated off BF.

Hello Mr. Banshee Axle :)

Tickle my nipple? :o

I continue to use the stock year 2000 rear brake as originally installed on the carrier. To make this work with the Banshee brake hub, I had to space the brake disk ~3/8" to the right (looking from the rear). You can see the washers I used to space the disk off the hub in this pic

Then to complete the job I put on a set of stock YFZ aluminum rims & tires I picked up to replace my stock steel rims. I can now swap rims/tires with my YFZ as needed, which will be nice.

So here's my new wide-body rear end I:I and you can see the YFZ rims in my sig pic.

Lastly, I used a velcro Outerwears airbox lid cover last season because I didn't have time to fab up a proper lid. Last weekend I found the time to mod up a lid.....

Man.....how can you not love this forum with all the great info and good peeps? ;)

looking good, does the rear brake still float on the splines? the old mechanical caliper needs the disk to float

Hmmmm, everything I've read stated to use the banshee brake hub....which is non-floating. So no, my rear disk no longer floats.

looks great, but wayd you put so many bolts on your lid?

Well....I saw pics where guys used 12 bolts and that's what I had planned to do also. But when I got into it I felt the 18 bolts gave better coverage and even spacing around the whole lid because the stock lid isn't exactly flat and has a little bit of a curve to it.

Also, my stock lid frame bent up in the middle a little bit leaving a place for air to enter the airbox without first going through the Outerwears. The extra bolts and even spacing around the whole lid seems to have flattend the lid frame back down and I'm getting a tighter fit when mounted.

I'm still thinking of taping off around the lid just to be safe because where I ride in the SoCal high desert is all sand, dirt & dust....and so I need all the protection I can get.

Looks pretty good! Is that a solid airbox lid or is it just the outerwears cover bolted down?

It's the original stock airbox lid that I modified to allow for an Outerwears.

So the modified stock airbox lid is on the bottom, the Outwears is in the middle and then the aluminum bracket I made is on top.

Looks good man how much wider is your rear end now?

Thanks dude.

Unfortunately I didn't measure my rear end prior to the changes. The banshee axle is 3" wider all by itself, but I'm not sure about the diffence in rim offset between the rear blaster vs the rear YFZ rims.
