great info. exactly what i was wanting to know.

given that info, i think i may dig out my dads and see if i can salvage it. i know i broke the arm or it may have been the frame i just can't remember. i have seen where you can purchase the arm sets. i wonder if i can find a new frame. that thing was loads of fun the whole 2 days we played with it haha.

if i do buy the RTR kit which should i start out with? 2.5 or 3.3? or something different.

It is WAY more expensive to purchase the upgrade later than it is to get the bigger engine to begin with BUT if you're going to run it a few times and decide you don't like it, it's going to just cost you more to get rid of later

you know i can't recall. it was a 4 wheel drive and was pretty stout. this was about 4-5 yrs ago when he bought it. if those were called Stampede's then i'm sure you're probably right.

EDIT:

from memory and a little searching it looks very much like this one except for the batteries.
Traxxas T-Maxx Radio Controlled Truck | eBay

The E-maxx is what you've got then. They're beasts and you can get nearly any aftermarket part imaginable for them (CV shaft sets, cryo gear sets, aluminum twin spar chassis, aluminum suspension components) to make them bulletproof.

Look into the Vileneon system and Lipo packs for the E-Maxx. They advertise like 75mph with the brushless motors and lipo packs. INSANE SPEED and puts out more power than the T-maxx (nitro model)

Good choice sticking with the emaxx. I personally like electrics alot better than nitro.Nitro is fun but takes alot of tuning and isn't very fun when the kids are around.lol I have alot of electric rc's from brushless to brushed,on and off road etc etc There is a big platform of used parts for the emaxx on any good rc site or ebay. As stated a traxxas velineon brushless system will be a very nice upgrade ,but you may have to upgrade the diff's also. I run some cheap brushless motors in a few rc cars and they hold up really well also.Any brushless system will be an upgrade. If the power was too much or uncontrollable before when you used to use it then stick with the brushed titan motors. There a ton of fun but not when you fix them every minute.

I know with some minor mods, my Traxxas Stampede got much faster! Better battery, electronic speed control, lighter rims, and it probably goes about 30 mph. I'm happy with that. It does what I want it to! I would suggest sticking to electric just for the pure fact that they are cheaper and just as fun. But to each his own!

Sweet. I talked to him about it earlier. Sounds like he got really ampped when i told him i was going to fix it. Should probably pick it up this weekend. ill post pics when i do get it.

Cool! Keep us posted! If you want to try out a Nitro R/C without the expense of buying one brand-new, I might be willing to sell my Team Associated machine for a good deal. I'm getting into R/C helis and don't reallly run the truck much anymore...

custom painted the body.

took off the sh*ty ez-start, saves a ton of wieght too.
race wheels with nobs mounted and glued
and the wing is pretty much a wheelie bar.. lol

Traxxas RTR stuff is going to be your best bet.

Ive got a jato, nitro rustler, nitro 4 tec with 66 mustang body for traxxas stuff and theyre descent for beginners easy to start run and maintain.

Now my favorites are my team losi aftershock or my ofna ravager both rocking 4.6cc big blocks!!!These things are down right stupid fun!

Theyre both 1/8 scale and a blast.

god, you guys posting that awesome stuff makes me want to jump right into it full blast. i'll start off with this e-maxx and then go from there.

tertal: that whole setup include the extra engine for 300 bux? looks like an awesome deal for all that.

Tertal: if you still have this setup after christmas ill pick it up off you. That is a hell of a deal.

yea, its really just collecting dust and i rather it go to a fellow BF member than a CL creeper. I just keep giving the gf excuses not to sell it, plus it looks good on my shelf :D
