new pipe FMF fatty

One of the common causes for rough running is that it has been running well with a leak and now that jetting has changed the air leak is no longer being compensated for.

I would be inclined to leak test before riding again.

If it has no leaks, then, and only then plug chop the needle.

oh i did not think of that, how much about to build me one of those leak testers??

it will have to wait till after i get payed but i shall build me one of them.

when u say plug chop the needle, do u mean move it first and then chop again?? or wht?

Do full plug chop operation but only go 1/2 to 3/4 throttle opening.

This will read the mixture setting of the needle.

ok, today i wanted to check where it was bogging.....doesnt seem to be bogging seems more like its "skipping" idk how to describe it, but its not bogging

With only my little lap top speaker it somewhat sounds like a weak spark, or a plug breaking down under pressure.

Also a float setting letting too much gas into the catb can produce the same effect.

The carb is all good i checked that when i changed jets,

Oh haha i forgot my laptop has really good sound, almost sounds like im on it for me, i could install a brand new plug to see... also its only in second gear and just alittle in third

I will be buying parts for and building a leak tester next week sometime.

Try a new plug, that is always the first thing that I suspect when I hear a motor that seems to be missing.

he plug does not fix it then definatly a leak tes should be in order.

Can you tell us the needle position, sometimes a clip too low can cause it.

it was so dirty it was probably stopping airflow, and when i took it off layers of dirt fell off it, and i don't have the money for a K&N filter i want to buy.

after work picks up again in the spring or i find a new job i will be getting one, and rebuilding this baby,

and needle clip i have no idea where it is.......probably where it come stock this baby is a 02 and its stock cept for pipe and muffler, and i disconnected tors cause it was being stupid.

Us old farts must sound like a broken record harping onand on, raining on everybody's parade.

There is more of a reason than just dust to have an air filter on.
Pipe tuned 2 strokes have a wild air draw that makes carb tuning very hard to achieve for the engine designer. The restrictive exhaust and aircleaner purposely keep the engine from leaning out at max revs. Take the aircleaner off, especially in cold weather, and BOOM! Lean out and destruction.

If you want to take the aircleaner off you have to jet for it.
"It seemed OK" = expensive destruction
"I tested it, no leaks and found the right jetting" = safe to run

Cold weather means more oxygen in the air and danger of lean destruction.
Richen the jets up and check.

Blaaster is right about the caution of having the needle position.
We worry about blowing up at max revs and power by having too lean a main jet. It can happen in seconds.
An engine will still blow up at half or 3/4 throttle if the needle is not right.
It takes a bit longer but I can asure you it happens.

K&N is not the best choice for an off road machine unless you run a foam over filter.
K&N lets quite a bit of dirt by. I know, I have used many K&N filters.
A new foam filter, pre-oiled and ready to go is less then $15. That is a bargain.
Over heated or dust damaged pistons and bore are very expensive...

Well unless the filter is falling apart, clean it and put it back on X(. Makes no sense at all to try to tune it like it is. Plus even though there isn't any dust, there is snow dust :o

Not only do us old farts have experience tuning, trouble shooting, and maintaining things , we also have experience rebuilding them I:I
Wether from wearing them out, pushing the limits to hard, or not listening 8-|
