Hello all, just signed up on here as I begin the tear down and rebuild of my '01. It was stolen in 2001 and 10 years later, got a call from the cops saying they had recovered it :o I:I My step dad picked it up since I am stationed in KS, grew up in CT, and it has sat in the barn for over a year. I had not seen any pictures or even had any idea of its condition. When I went home last month I dragged it out and just for the heck of it, turned on the gas and gave it a kick, it started second kick! The thing is trashed to say the least. Frame is tweaked so bad I can't even tell what ways it's bent or how it happened, axle carrier is destroyed, plastics all junk, steering stem bent horribly, wheels and tires trash, pipe shot, etc... My pile of useable parts is smaller than my scrap pile right now. I've got the engine tore down and the trans and internals all look good. It was either bottomed out on a rock or thew a rod at some point since the left case has some welding done under the crank, which I will clean up and inspect but it looks useable. It will probably take a while to get it going since I have to source a good frame first, probably 03-06, and I'm still working on my '04 RM 125 project, but it should be a great machine once it's restored. I will definitely be looking here for answers to any questions that come up. Thanks for reading.

Welcome, WOW after 10 years it comes back that is awesome!
Possible, but sounds more like a piston exploded and a chunk got punched threw the bottom.

Yeah that's likely what happened, don't know why I didn't think of that in the first place. I'll try to get some pics up later. Looks like the original chunk that got blown out was welded back in place. I'd like to have some of the divots filled in and clean it all up before I run it again. The inside of the lower end does look like a piece of something got tossed around in it. My guess is not much maintenance was done and it failed. Aside from that though, the clutch and trans look great. I'll be putting all new bearings in just to be safe. Already have them all out except for the one the clutch arm pivots in, my puller won't grab it enough to get it out so I may just leave it since it doesn't really spin like the rest.

I used a pilot bearing removal tool to remove them helps if you heat that area of the case up with mapp gass for few minutes! they pop right out!

I've got a blind bearing removal set, but that bearing seems to be right between 2 of my dies. It started to go but the puller can't get a good enough grip now. I need to measure and get the right size. I can't believe how easy it all came apart compared to my bike though, I basically separated the cases by hand and all the bearings came out with a couple of hits and a little heat.

Here are a few pics.

This is what I started with, minus the parts I didn't even bother to haul home.

You can see one of the spots the frame is trashed behind the lower A-Arm mount. This is the worst hit and pretty much tweaked the whole frame beyond repair.

Here are a few of the damage and repair to the cases

well look at it this way they put a aftermarket silencer on it for you

Yeah it's got a PC Silencer that's in great shape, brand new PT bars (CR High) which will end up a spare for my bike, Armadillo rear plate, DG full (missing all but 2 of the mounting clamps if anyone knows where to find them), DG bumper and the DG grab bar I had put on. Grab bar is trash, bumper is salvageable and the plates are useable as well.

I can't decide between setting it up for the track or making it a sand machine. I guess the biggest difference is tires, an excuse to buy a spare set of wheels...

Yes Tires and the type of Porting, I've heard of Dune porting, and I know MX porting, Drag porting.

Well guys, after some thinking I have decided that I am going to end up parting out what I have left of the Blaster. Sadly, I just don't have the time and money to get into it right now as I have other unfinished projects and kids that take up a lot of time. I'll post up the stuff I have left in the for sale section and keep a look out for those needing anything I may have.

Yes. One day I will get back to building one, but for now I want to finish my bike and work on the kid's bike. This is as far as the project got since I still have my 125 sitting incomplete on the other end of the bench.
