well thanks to blueblaster55 i bought a top end off him with a aggressive trail port and a milled head. its got a fresh wiseco .060 over bore piston and new gaskets. ill be pulling my stock top end off and installing in the next couple days when it comes in. im figuring out what may need to be done also like plug wise thinking about going form br8es to a br9es. wondering what possible jetting issues i may run into? im gonna be running it with a fmf gold series and power core 2 and a mikuni flat side 28mm carb. open air box and a 280 main jet right now. any advise appreciated.

when you have the money get a better pipe and things look good right there. the fmf is ok, but there are better pipes. i believe F7 or Power Pros is the best pipe but it all depends on how you ride and where. and the plugs maybe different. My cuz gotta CR250 and he only change plugs when the climate change. for example: Summer time he might run a B8es and winter run a B9es. but there may be other reasons of changing as well. but you are going in the right direction

yea the pipe is bootleg but for now its good but usually they change from a br8 to a br9 if the motor is more hooked up like higher compression. the br8 is a hotter plug for normal range and a br9 is colder i guess. we always run colder plugs in our cars with high compression and turbo setups so i figured i give it a shot. i guess the head was milled and is set up with high compression. he said its set to still run on 93 but i am wondering if i do a plus 4 timing advance if thatll raise it any b/c it mkaes the plug fire wen the piston is high i assume causing more compression? mayb not?

well just got done taking my stock top end off. it literatly took 15minutes. removed exhaust, carb, gas tank, and the 10 bolts for it thanks to the diy link in here. hopefully tomorrow or thursday my new top end comes in and i can get that baby on and get it running.

well i wanted to do a compression test on my stock jug to see wats it got incase i sell it. well jug is stock bore and piston untouched from 2003. i was guessing compression is gonna be around 110 to 115 just b/c minor ware on it. well did 6 kicks and first test came out at 130. next test did 6 kicks and came out 127 psi. i was shocked. i feel kinda bad pulling this top end off wen its in such good condition but oh well. cylinder walls look imaculate and piston looks perfect.

when my engine goes someone told me to put a yz 490 engine in it :-P and i kidna want to i mean... thats going to be nutz!
oh yea your thread... not mine heh! anyway the pics arent bad but hope you get your parts ive been waiting like 3 weeks fo a brake cable, and like 1 week for my cyl and head but its cool because its getting honed and bored and then ported and polished :-D

yea shouldnt be long ill be selling my stock cylinder wen i get the other installed. does anyone know when im puttin the piston in do i need a ring compressor?

I always ran a b8eg plug. When I had a stock carb I ran a 330 main. I forgot whats in my 34mmPJ. Its very easy to put together. I left one circlip inside the piston with the pin and bearing. All you gotta do it slide the pin and bearing out leave one clip in the piston. Put the bearing in the crank, slide the pin in. Then put the second circlip in. Its in a little plastic bag. Compressing the rings is no problem. I used the my fingers well I had someone else slide the cylinder on.

iight no doubt well im gonna have to up main jetting anyway im at a 280 now i was gonna prob end up near a 300 its a 28mm carb but yea always 93octane. for the plug i been using br8es and i thought mayb to run a br9es but illpick up some b8eg plugs. r they ngk?

cool, well head here and it looks good. can def see the ports open wider and i know wat the mean by milling the head. the head looks totally dif.on the underside and i cant wait to get it on. im gonna take some pictures of the dif. in ports and cylinders and start scraping off old gaskets on the new cylinder and clean it up. hopefully get it on tonight and test out tom. gonna have to grab a couple higher jets tomorrow and new plugs and some fresh 93 octane.

lil update got my piston and cylinder installed tonight got some pics comparing the stock one and new one ill get up tonight or tomorrow. got my plus 4 timing advance done, emptied my gas tank and cleaned out petcock, ended up moving my needle clip down one gettign ready for new cylinder, got my new main jet in starting at a 300 and tightened up my chain with my new 14 tooth front sprocket on. tomorrow i put my carb on and start fresh tank with 93 octane and install my exhaust. also gettign new spark plugs and repacking my silencer. hoping to get it running and good to go tomorrow.

well got everything back on today and running. i got fresh 93 octane mixed 32:1 and i got a new plug ngk br9eg 7 dollars a plug... fresh repacked my silencer and i ended up staying ay my 280main jet to see how it would run. it kicked over on 3rd kick i was excited. i let it idle for like 10 minutes and it had a great idel and seems rich enough for the 280 main but i ended up going down 1on my needle clip spot b/c i hadit up 1on the previous motor so i went back down. bike will idel strong and sounds awesome for like 60 seconds and start to die out and sputter like its rich i would hit gas and it bumps up and revs perfect for another 30 seconds. i havnt checked plug yet but im assuming its rich mayb messwith air fuel screw. i dont know what the rule is for the bream inon the the cylinder has been broken in and used 1 time by blublaster so i dont know if i have to break it in again since piston was removed and put back in. anyway im gonna take it easy on it for a while let it idel and then cool off a couple times. pics soon...
