As some already know, I've talked to KOR about getting my 240 stroker build set up. I am going to be doing some of the work for it soon and thought that while I'm waiting on some parts I would ask for some advise on other parts I'm looking for. After the stroked 240 is built, I want to run the keihin 35mm air striker like suggested to me. Anyone that is running a big carb like that, what did you do to modify your intake manifold from the cylinder to fit it or did you purchase a bigger one online? Also, how did you go about modifying your airbox/intake boot to get adequate air flow? I saw online where someone is selling custom airboxes but I thought I'd ask if anyone has done different. And lastly, how do you get jets for the carb you are running?

You have to get a larger intake for the engine. Alot of the guys on here run cfm (I think) airbox, or some build their own. Jets-r-us is a good supplier for jets

That CFM airbox is the one I saw online. Thanks for the feedback. Looks like I'll be buying the larger intake manifold and buying a CFM airbox when it comes time. So I'm assuming you haven't heard of any problems with that airbox rubbing anywhere or anything like that? The blaster I have already has the airbox cut out of it so the CFM looks like a good option for me.

Bigger intake definitely, no way you should run the stock one. and the CFM airbox is a great choice. their mounting i dont think is the best, but they are working with all stock mounts on a blaster. right now i have a bolt on each side of mine going through a frame gusset. i could stand on the box and it wouldnt move

I run a 35mm carb currently. im not sure on the brand of the intake maf, but i have a suggestion for the airbox when you buy one

When you order it, you can tell them what size carb you have and they will send you this cheap pos connector from box to carb.
Save yourself trouble! order this and have no worries of it separating. when i ran the one they sent me, it came off a few times.

they are out of the black one i ordered (or it costs $305 now lol)
heres red and blue with clamps. this stuff is pretty good quality i thought, even for $5

What it looks like

i cut mine shorter because its too long

installed CFM

I made this mount of the back left side and it connected to the grab bar mount.

Thanks for the info. I looked for jets on jetsrus but all I can find is individual jets. Is there any way to get a kit of jets for it? Also what about the throttle cable?

Order separate jets. "kits" have narrow ranges and commonly useless, especially when you are going to have this type of build
common jets in kits are 250-270 i think, but i have not ordered one.

and what pipe are you running?

get a list of a few jets you need from someone and you can plug chop to find your exact needs

just order a tors delete cable.

I'll be running the vito's pipe and I'll order some vfoce 4 reeds

U can also run a airbox from a trx 250r I picked up the whole setup with k&n filter for $30 on ebay fits good and doesnt rub on my ltz400 shock

I run.....

a silicon reducer fitting from siliconintakes.com
my CFM box to 34mm PJ takes a 2.5" to 2.25" reducer, red/ blue or black, awesome clamps too

for 34/45mm 240 cc jetting @ 350' elevation of Eve/Ind, i'd buy.....
50/52 pilots
155 thru 162 mains
#6 slide
CEL needle

the dude at carb parts warehouse knows his shiz, can hook you up with everything needed, and will help you with jetting and specs, he's who turned us onto the different needles that made a huge difference

So do I need to be looking for a CEL needle for the 35mm air striker or is that what comes with it?
What the set up is looking like as of right now is: it's a sleeved stock cylinder probably gonna need bored to 72.50mm vitos forged piston, ported, 165 psi head (half race half pump fuel), +3 vitos crank, vitos pipe, vforce 4 reeds, 35mm air striker, probably the CFM airbox.
And yes around 400' elevation riding temps around here probably 40-90 degrees. It gets hotter and colder but I usually don't ride when it is

I'd wait to see what slide, needle, and jets come with the carb before ordering anything.
Some may be close or correct ?
Some places that sale new carbs will put whatever jetting you spec in it, but you'll still need a range of jets.

Yeah. I wasn't going to order anything until I'm ready, I just like to do my research beforehand so I know what I'm doing and don't screw up.

Well the build has officially started. Last night I started on the bottom end. I replaced all the bearings and seals and put the +3 in my locked up bottom end. It looked ROUGH. I had to do so much cleaning and actually had to do some scrubbing on the crank housing because it had started to rust (previous owner just let it sit for months). I got it looking a hell of a lot better.

I think the crank that was in it or in it at one time was a +3 because it had the small amount of grinding you have to do to the top of the case for the +3 already done.

All I have left to do tonight is to put the kickstart assembly back in, close my clutch cover, put the stator back on and close that up and I'll be ready to ship it all to KOR for my motor work.

It took all night because we hit a few speed bumps when replacing the bearings. Not all of them went in just by heating the case. Some of them we had to heat the case and then press in but they went in smooth with the press and the crank and gear shafts dropped in (crank with heat) smoothly and everything rotates good with all my gears so I assume I did it right. KOR's youtube videos helped.

I forgot to take pics before and when I split it but I do have a pic of the old crank and it tells the whole story. It just sat exposed for months so it was all rusted and nasty and the whole inside of the bottom of the engine was the same way. The gears and transmission part of the inside of the case weren't bad though. But you could imagine how tough it was to clean.

But we replaced all the bearings and seals and got it looking as nice as we could. Up close it ain't perfect but sure as hell a lot prettier than it was. Stroker crank looks good in it.

Really nice job man. Coming along nicely.. Got the full ss bolt kit and all too. :)

We got a pretty big snow (at least for southern Indiana 6-8 inches is a nice big snow) so I didn't get out to search for a container to ship my motor but I was able to borrow my dad's blaster for the day to do what has been a family tradition for us ever since I was little and on the same blaster. Thought I'd pass on the tradition to my little girl. If you can't tell, the blaster is pulling the sled.

Thats awesome man. I've been waiting all winter to try that here, but we haven't gotten enough snow yet:( 30 degrees and raining now, dam snow gods
