my 07 race ready yfz

took it for a 10min spin thats all, now to the mechanic :D jus on a yfz forum they said its rich if doing that?

trust me on this.. yes it seems backwards from what you would think, but having gone through this she is lean my friend. lot of racers tend to jet on the lean side on 4-strokes since it gives you the most power, im thinking that due to elevation and temp difference and the fact it was already jetted slightly lean its pushed it to the way lean side. if it was rich it would have a mega bog

no. i was just saying that if its running lean. put the lid back on, and see if it solves the problem. or you could rejet. but you said the yfz forum guys told u its running rich so nevermind about that.

i have one guy on here saying its lean and one yfz guy sayinmg its rich lol

i will order a new service kit for it and jets so , i guess it will be parked for around a month now :(

umm sounds like a possible air leak. that thing was revving very high and those flames are not good.

ive got a kx250f built mx bike. a uber modded kfx440 with a desert race set up, i had a crf450r and i had one of the early yfz450s trust me on the 4 poke stuff. ive got no reason to lie... those things tend to run lean to begin with

dont worry dude, buy a bunch of various main jet sizes from big to small and find the sweet one. remember a lil backfire is ok when letting of every once and a while, but as it stands you have excessive haha it looks cool tho doesnt it haha, ive seen people at the track like that at night races, its like a firework show until they over heat.

kk thanks for the help man , will check the plug tomorrow to see what its like ( as a personal reference lol)

as for the idle dont bother, none of the carburated yfz's ive seen ever idled smooth, mine had big problems and i went through 20 (exaggeration) different pilot jet configurations and it still idled like a big cam v-8 lol

buy a clymers guide if you plan on doing most the work yourself to save money those manuals are worth their weight in gold, and they even show u short cuts on things and even tell you want you can use to substitute for specialized hard to find tools.

i like the way it idles lol roughly how much would a shock rebuild cost?

idk what u guys have for suspension shops out there but i had race tech rebuild a rear shock and re-valved it for me a few years ago and it cost me $120 american plus shipping. or go on ebay and buy a used stocker for $50 plus shipping

its just that one of the shocks is very stiff im not sure if it needs ajusting or rebuilding , i seacherd the bike doen today the only thing i found that was rong (which i never knew about is) jetting, that shock and a bearing thats not to bad imo
