It could be the cam makeing it sound that way but i think it needs to be jetted correctly or possible valve adjustment and carb cleaning and tuneing. I am sure it has great potential when the bugs are ironed out.
if there fuel injected the ecu will make the correctiongs for air flow mods, same way your car would if you put a cold air intake on and a high flow exhaust, i know my nephews ds450 needs some pink wire mod done for a full exhaust and highflow filter.. or like the "cherry bomb" for ltr450s
i believe 2007 was the last year with traditional carburation(however ya spell it) its running extremely lean tho hence the the flames... what happens in 4-strokes when they are running lean is that the engine actually stalls from insufficient fuel for a split second and as it stalls the vacuum from the carb continues to suck more fuel into the combustion chamber, the inertia from the piston and crank re-fires the engine with the excessive fuel in the combustion chamber thus causing an explosion (backfire) which we see as flames out the exhaust
if its lean it most likly needs a rebuild .. and i pul a LIL tranny oil it the bottom of the engine( like the place you would put it on a blaster ) and only found out that it goes in the black box it was a small ammount though
DONT FORGET YOUR VALVE INSPECTION!!!!!!! do that before you take her out. but other than that its a good find my friend and its worth it since the suspension mods are worth its value alone

i think you can do both. cuz my friends raptor (i think) he put the oil in the box but the other spot is for the dipstick so i dont think it matters. and it probly doesnt need a rebuild. check the comp and then youll know fur sure.

bad bad bad i wag my finger at you. dump the oil including the oil reservoir and pull the oil filter. get a new oil filter and fill her with fresh oil... i run 10w-40 in my 4-stoke race machines
no. i was just saying that if its running lean. put the lid back on, and see if it solves the problem. or you could rejet. but you said the yfz forum guys told u its running rich so nevermind about that.
it was a very small ammount(not saying thats not bad) and it was 10-w40 castrol
