i have a 98 blaster, i raced it last weekend on a less than 1000ft track and ran 47.9mph, the mods i have are:
fmf gold series pipe with what i think is the first powercore by fmf? pic of it
and then the jetting for that pipe
i dont have them tires in the pictures anymore. they are now smaller rawr 18" maybe
thats all that i know of.
i believe it has stock gearing.

i want to get more hp out of it and still have a good trail bike.
thinking of boring .040 over with a milled head, i need to keep this on pump gas!!
my dad has a banshee he ran 78mph with fmf powercore 2 and 1.5" studes B)
i would like to run with him better, and kick the 4 strokes ass at the track!

oh i thought it would reading that other post about milling some guy saying he is going 75mph with 14/40 gearing and .040 over and .020 milled plus port and a dg pipe

I'd put on larger than 18" tires if you are running trails....at least 20". Boring .040 over is a rebuild size........not 40cc. Cheap easy mods are milling the head .030 down at a local machine shop an running pump gas, then sending your cylinder(and head to get milled/rechambered if you want) out to get ported. Then running a Uni filter with the lid off. That can all be had for $300ish but can range from $225-$500. You will probably need a new carb too. I suggest a Keihin 33 PWK, but they are tough to come by used and cost an arm and a leg new. A 30mm would work alright, but probably not optimal. As a side note, put some carbon fiber replacement reeds on the stock reed cage as a cheap replacement.

It won't do 75, but it will be faster. DG pipes suck ass. One of the magazines did a dyno of Blaster pipes a long while back and the DG pipe pulled less power and had a worse powerband than the stock Yamaha pipe.

carbon fiber reed break? ik my local machine shop does the 4g63t head for 50 bucks, ill have to talk to my dad about porting, his raced for a guy that holds a record fastest open mod sled in WI

^^^^ he was talking about the banshee pipe. anyways that fmf is holding you back for drag racing. they are great mx and trail pipes cause they have alot of down low punch but and f7 or lrd will open that up down the drag strip

yeah she does wheelie in third gear lol. is the stock pipe better for drag?

if you want to be faster get the following stuff down to your blaster
mx port
the head cut
better exhaust
bigger carb
maybe a stroker crank (if you do this, get this first then have your jug ported to match and your head cut to match the extra stroke)
also get some better suspension.

a question, a 1000ft drag race is long, very long. most are 300ft, some are 500ft.

no anything other than dg is better than stock pipe for the blaster

okay, so now lets say i have my jug ported, head milled .030, 92 octane, same pipe and silencer, bigger tires lets 22", the right jetting, and uni air filter, what gearing would i run? and how fast would you think it would go, i weight like 120, and should i put snowmoblie studs in like my father?

1000ft is what we run i guess im talking about radar runs on ice

If you shave the fenders for drag and throw on a 14 tooth front sprocket, you might hit upper 60s.....maybe like 68ish or a few mph faster on top end than a stock 400ex.

well ik my speed wasnt right because i spun. the fastest 4 storke there ran 68mph and he came in second so if i get like 70 or so but still upper 60s sounds funI:I

edit: by the way i will be lowering my blaster when i go racing

What kind of racing are you doing? If you are looking for top speed, then just get a 14 tooth front and put a different rear sprocket on and you can hit 70+ but your acceleration will be mediocre.
