That’s a Mikuni VM round slide carburetor. It was used in the early 70’s – 1986. Check the soldered seams in the floats as they have a tendency to develop leaks. When you put the carb on your bike, you need to be careful you don’t cover the bleed hole in the slide with the needle retaining plate. Just match the hole in the plate with the bleed hole.

28mm jetting on a mikuni is gonna be slightly higher than stock 26mm jetting
call the dude here, he'll tell you damn near exactly what jets, thats who fixed me up on my trx250r carb, he was within 2 main jets, dead on for pilot and needle, he knows his shizzle...........

Mikuni Offroad Carburetors

thats the page to the mikuni carbs, it has jetting info for each carb, do some reading

thanks, awk do you know if this carb takes the same jets as stock and i thought since its a bigger carb it takes smaller jet sizes?

PM replied! Im pretty sure that carb takes the same main jets, although the pilot is likely different. Take and post a pic of your 28mm's pilot and main, and Ill tell you for sure.

Cool! Glad Awk's link cleared that up for you. Now all you have to do is check the needle clip (Id probably start in the middle and see how she runs), pop in some jets, hook it all up, and fire it up for a final tune.

As far as my jetting goes, before I got it the bike was run with a 210 main laying in the bottom of the bowl, and a bad air leak. The kid couldn't figure out why it ran like crap so i picked it up for 200. I'm going to try a 260 main bone stock with the air lid removed, after I fix the leak.
