What does it mean to match your cylinder with your pipe? Is it the process of removing metal that hangs on the inside of the exhaust port when you set the gasket ring?

Material must be removed to make sure that there is no shoulder which will cause eddy currebts.

i think your "REAL QUESTION" is matching your cylinder/head mods
with a pipe that suits the mods involved....like IF you had it ported for top end.
you match it with a mid to high pipe???
kinda like doing a high rev port design then throwing on a low end pipe...Is this what you are talking about
or am i way off?
I guess you both answered my question haha. I have been reading alot on porting and always find someone saying to match the exhaust port to the pipe or something.
