Has anyone had a LTR450R and a TRX700XX lined up next to each other? Or even seen pictures of it? Honda almost completely copied Suzuki's design of the Spade seat that they use on the LT250R, LTZ400, LTZ250, and the LTR450R. It almost makes me mad that a bunch of Japanese moto-gurus can't think up a better idea than their competitiors? I mean really? And worst of all, they put it on a polished TURD. The 700's are luggy, slow, hard to work on, way too expensive, and they don't ride worth a crap. My buddies piped LTZ kept up with my other friends TRX700XX all the way through a 3/4 mile field and finally the TRX slowly pulled away and got the LTZ by TWO quad lengths. Is that saying something Honda? It's saying that you need to strap a 250R motor in that biotch. Thats what it's saying. Get your own ideas and build something GOOD.

Oh and by the way....... Imma SNAAAAAAKE. =] YouTube - I'm a Snake ( original / official ) [ As seen on Tosh.0 ]

A 250R engine in stock form is pretty weak. Even a stock bore, ported 250R would get spanked by a modern LTR450 with simple cherry bomb and pipe mods.

As far as seat design.......who cares?.....I like the seat design. If they "copied" it then so what.....they improved the design. Yamaha had a crazy idea earlier this decade to make a 450 sport quad called the YFZ450.......then Honda, Suzuki, Kawasaki, etc copied the idea and made 450 quads as well. If anything I would complain that they didn't copy it earlier.

Man, I think your jumping the gun on your rant, the 700xx is a proven baja quad. Just check wayne matlock racing they only won the 500 and 1000 baja on 700xx. I would say the yamaha has never copied, but all the current 450's are loosely based on the first cannondales, i.e. aluminium frame, fuel injection, full MX stance. So if anything they are building quads to match what the market demands. I don't know how much diffrent you'd want quads to be. To be competitive in the same class they must be somewhat the same IMO. And back to the 700xx, it was specifically built to compete with the raptor 700, is it as good not IMO, but it definitely is not meant to be a 450 comparison, and as far as honda.....one word .... reliability. You are going to have problems with all quads but honda does not build junk.

the new yfz dynos pretty high out of the box, im just not the fan of the half aluminum/steel frame, seems like the junction of the two halfs would be a major weak point

The spade seat was a universal aftermarket thing. Putting something that is common aftermarket on the quad from the factory? Not new. Flat trackers have been using seats like that for YEARS

I know quite a few YFZ people were upset and sketchy about that move as well....with the thickness of aluminium and the amount the used, it doesn't seem like it helped any with weight considering the YFZ weighs more than the previous YFZs partly due to fuel injection but that's only a small part.

someone explain to my how a ltr450 with a poop shooter and a cherry bomb will out perform a 250r with porting and pipe???

guy here has a stock stroke ct310 250r.. watched him repetedly run side by side with a artic cat f5 from a dig tell the 250r was out of gear

BTW take your new 450 quads and shove em where the sun dont shine

I believe you missed the part where I said stock bore 250R.

Yep a stock 250r is good for only about 36hp, and a stock 450 has more.... BUT that is STOCK VS STOCK......

36hp is quite generous even for a bone stock 250R. Most dynos I've seen are in the lower 30s. Getting a stock bore 250R engine to 50hp is quite a task even after a whole slew of mods, where as I could make a solid case the LTR450 is the most powerful 450...even more so than the KTM considering the LTR is pretty corked up...hence the cherry bomb craze. Getting 50hp from an LTR is quite simple on stock bore.

I think Honda claimed they had 36hp stock but they were closer to 33hp lol and i seen some people claim the race 250r had about 40-45 hp and other people claim the race 250r have 50-55 hp. I also seen a 310 kit dyno at about 57hp, and the dude claim the 330 kit maybe about 65 hp.... But i dont know....lol

That sounds about right.

well stock bore is no fun!!! and it wouldnt take much for a250r to be even or surpass a 450ltr seeing they 'were compairable' to the honda 450r with just a fresh bore and pipe, along with a fresh rebuild and pipe on the 450... dirt wheels did it look it up..

so being stock bore, a cr ignition, 39 airstryker, vf3 reeds, ported cyl, lighten flywheel 250r will eat the sh*t out of the 450s still stock bore!!!

my friend matts old 250r made 450 bikes and quads look retarded!!!!! iv mentioned it before well skip the chassie and suspension set up.. full mx/ and flat track set up.. anyway..

lrd 350 pv kit, lrd bb pipe, 39 air stryker, cr ignition, agressive trail/ mx ported, cool head with custom domes, ( 228 psi of compression) vf3? reeds with spacer uni pod filter,

needless to say he pad 5k for the machine.... ( lsr frame, long travel suspension, cr500 link rear pep shocks all around.. lsr arms, and so on... and spend 180 on a top end kit for it, and 280? on porting... made 70? 73? HP at the WHEELS bang for the buck... 2 stroke wins
