Kinda Makes Me Mad

You know 99LRD I used to wonder how you got so many posts. Now I know. You post completely pointless replies to EVERYONES posts at least once. I don't understand why the people here have to turn a simple thread about ATV seats into a mosh pit. Calm down. And I don't like the new YFZ's because of mainly the frame. I have seen them race many times and I am NOT impressed with their performance. And I also don't like the TRX's because of the weight and lack of power that most 450's have. The LTR450R is a great 450 that has no problem showing them up. And also, have any of you seen the 2011 Honda Foreman? It's a replica of the 2007 Suzuki Vinson 500.

Liking the frames or not, they are still one of the fastest quads around any course you can think of, so it's getting a bit tedious for people to come in and say "I don't like them" for more or less no reason. If you don't like the aluminium frame....that's fine, but it doesn't really paint it in that bad of a light when it's probably the 2nd-3rd fastest quad around a track you can buy off the showroom floor right now.

You don't see the typing that you don't want to see do you? I said a good reason why I don't like the YFZ. I've seen it multiple times on the track and it has always been at the back of the pack. Performance wise, I've seen a Mel's Powersports built YFZ get blown away by a LTR and a KTM. In front of the KTM and LTR was a......take a guess. TRX250R. Thats why I don't like em. Because from what I have seen, they lack the performance and in my opinion, looks of a good 450. All it is is a 450 motor in a Raptor body.

Not going to get into this, it's funny how I mentioned they were all based on the early cannondales and then now we are talking highland which is the remnants of cannondale. Highland is making v-twin prototype quad which looks sick though. I do have to disagree that the YFZ is a 450 in raptor frame though...that is a stretch. And as far as the TRX yes in stock form the trx was the weakest of the bunch (09 models), but take a look at the baldwin prepped 450trx it is a monster.

Edit:And I've learned my lesson taking sides, so I will not, but I do like a good debate.....lol

I have seen the exact opposite of you.... around here Honda's and Yamaha's are out in front.... suzuki's are in the back...

just because you see riders who suck on a quad does not mean the quad is bad....

Word..........................lol, I will say that last years pro AMA however did not serve yamaha well, I don't think there was a single YFZ in top ten, all TRX, LTR,and DS

These riders on the Mel's Powersport quads are sponsored for a reason. They push the quad but they just can't keep it up in speed.

okay, well one of the riders I am talking about currently sits in 4th place in pro-am unlimited, and 6th place in pro-am production at the nationals... guess what he is riding? a yamaha

I can guarantee the quad is not the limiting factor for those riders....

Don't get me wrong, I'm a yamaha die-hard, I'd love to see yfz take over the 450 class, I think alot of it was that they didn't have factory support in the 450 pro class last year did they? Wasn't it all privateers on YFZ?

The new Yamahas have been a disappointment. Getting reliable power out of them has been a problem just ask Brown. Although he is one of the few that have found some success thanks to being the only factory rider. Local pro am class is all ltr's and trx's. A few tried yamaha but switched . I have a friend that has a ltr and a yfzr, he likes the yamaha handling but says it is down on power. He had a hc piston and cam put in last week and says the ltr is still faster.

Ya Barnes is 5th and 6th in point, but whats ahead of him...ltr and trx

the local track has Lawson,Upperman, heimes, Rastrelli, johnson, moore, Madl and and a bunch of Mushin riders so its a good test for whats being run and whats fast

Thats interesting, I thought the main problem with the YFZ's was sketchy/twitchy tracking in the steering, hence tric-trac systems etc. They had that modified 450 shootout in dirtwheels this year and that was there main complaint too, "steering", they replaced with the tric-trac system and were able to fix some of the twitchyness but still complained that it would take days to set up properly. If i'm correct they used pro riders for that shootout. I really don't know enough about it though, just read alot, so i always find actual rider input to be the best, or what I've witnessed. And as stated earlier pro-AMA 450 class last season did not serve yamaha well though.

Big-Gun/Laegers built a yamaha with custom laegers YFZ frame and the yz450f dirtbike motor, they have made six at a price tag of $30,000 but head-to head even with the yz450f motor being stock it spanked a fully built YFZR AMA quad, that was also with stock yz450f gearing. I would love to see yamaha take a note from laegers/big-gun and do the same from the factory with slightly different gearing, I believe it would spank the current 450's but this is all speculation so who knows. The new TRX should be a monster as well......
