keihin 28mm pwk

Your best bet is gonna be to start around a 148 main and a 48 pilot jet. You willl probably end up in the mid 140's range on the main jet with the FMF pipe and open (but still stock) airbox. I also think your engine will prefer a 45 pilot over the 48, but as you well know its better to start rich and tune from there...

I don't have much experience with Keihin needles, but the CEL needle is popular in the bigger carbs and would probably do you well in this one.

Honestly, I would wait until you have the carb in your hands to buy a needle for it. Find out what needle is in there first, and go from there. DGH needles also run well in some Blaster applications, so it may already come with a needle that will work for you.

Yes, I'd buy a couple different main jets, and a 45 and 48 pilot to start.

Jets R US, Niche Cycle Supply (on ebay), and CPW (Carb Parts Warehouse) will have the needle and jets you'll need.

I've got a pwk 28 on the red one in my Sig, if yours is close modded to that I can pull the carb of and give you my jetting, the jetting is spot on.

Just make sure you are at the same elevation and temperatures, and always, always confirm by a plug chop, things will and do vary.

I too am searching for some baseline settings.. I good with the starting MAIN and PILOT setting previously mentioned in this thread.. my hangup is the needle. The KEIHIN 28mm PWK I own has the a JJH needle. Im not sure if that is going to work or which needle to go with. The current main is 152, the pilot 48.

Mods - Fresh top end from KOR (non-ported), Stock Head, Stock Airbox w/ K&N no lid, Boyesen Power Valves, FMF Pipe and Silencer, pre-mix. I ride between 1500-2500. The motor was not running when I bought it.

What needle do you recommend?

The needles mentioned in the posts above are for the larger Keihin carbs and will not fit in the 28. The JJH needle is used by a lot of people in the Keihin 28mm PWK.

I got ya.. It appears that the JJH is the stock needle. What do you think about starting points for my setup? Do they go along the lines as mentioned above?

I've never personally run a 28. I've always skipped right past that to a 33. From what I've seen other people run, the 152 might be a tad rich, but wouldn't hurt to start there.
