Ok so today i bought a 2002 blaster for $500. It has full pro circuit exhaust, k&n air filter, and vforce reeds. We got it running (it was sitting for like 6 months.) We got it running good. But it does need a new oil tank we patched it temporairly to get it running. But some of my questions are what kind of oil should i run in the transmission? And what kind of 2 stroke oil should i run in it? (I live in a small town and there is no yamaha dealer near me) we do however have a napa auto parts and a kragen auto parts. So i was wonderong if theres a kind of oil i can get there thatd be ok? Also i was looking and alof of the oil says not for oil injection. Why does it say this? I'd prefer not to have to order the oil off the internet.

Thank you

Just get rid of the oil injection system entirely and just premix the oil yourself.

It will prevent alot of headaches in the future when that little plastic gear in the oil pump decides to break off and destroys the bottom end.

To do a cheap block off:

First get a new clutch cover gasket.
Then remove the clutch cover and flip it over.
Next you'll see a white plastic gear held on by an E-clip.
You'll want to remove the e-clip and then the plastic gear.
You'll also want to plug the port on the carb where the oil line went to prevent an air leak.

Then reassemble and mix your own oil at a ratio of 32-1.

Also afterwards drain the carb of remaining fuel as it doesn't contain oil and could lock up the topend.

Sounds like a lot but a little preventive maintenance can go a long way.

After that you can pretty much use any premix oil that you want as long it's designed for use in aircooled 2-strokes.

Pre mixing with a NON injection type 2 cycle mix is the best insurance you can do . Get rid of the injection system and pre mix 32:1 with Maxima Super M synthetic 2 stroke oil .
If it's not available lovally , just buy a gallon of it and a measuring cup .
Get rid of that k&n and get a uni brand filter , it's a 100 times better than that paper k&n .

welcome to bf, as far as trans oil goes, i run regular atf type F it is already designed to work with a wet clutch system like blastys got. you gotaa change it a little more often but for 2 bucks, its worth it. the factory calls for yamalube 10w30. dont think you can use just any 10w30, its gotta work with a wet clutch system. do your research and good luck!

For 2 strike oil, I use klotz benol oil. It's like 7$ and made for racing. And for tranny, I use valvoline 4 stroke atv motor oil. I nevers slips the clutch, and works great. It's also designed for wet clutches.

Welcome to BF I:I !! Look at sno-mo oil if you are where they're common. I would have to think some/most pre-mix oils may be to thick (viscis :o) to either pump or atomize properly in the carb. Neither auto parts has injection oil? Another drawback of injection is if you flip/tip you could get air in the line which would be very bad for it X(.

As to trans oil either ATF or any oil for motorcycle with wet clutch.

Either download a manual or get a Clymers repair manual. I:I

Welcome! I use Super M premix 32:1 if you decide to keep the oil tank and stay with injection I have a tank you can have for cost of shipping! However most over the counter auto part stores only carry premix 2 stroke oil! You can ask them if they would order you some Injection 2 stroke oil.

Again if you do not want to pre-mix, You must get oil made for injection.

As far as crankcase oil, I use belray case saver, But also Type F tranny fluid will work and is easily available at napa ( just needs changed more often IMO)

My suggestion is to eliminate the injection and do what vspec has belowVVVV
