Jetting numbers...the solution

Just picked up this 04 im having trouble getting the main jet dailed in..im at 6000 ft elevation..not sure if it's bored over but rebuilt recently. Stock reeds
what carb do you have???

Full fmf , fatty gold series and powercore 2 silencer
3) What type of airfilter do you have?
K&n
4) What kind of air box set up do you have??
Stock lid off
5) What size pilot jets are you using?
Stock
6) What size main jets are you using? 240 and it Boggs and won't get on the pipe.?
7) What needle position? Last groove. Leanest I believe.?

Have you done a plug chop? You might consider a leaner needle and/or pilot. Call Carb parts Warehouse, Jets R Us, or Sudco for recommendations for needle. Pilot would just be next size down.

IIRC pilot is idle to 1/4-3/8 throttle opening. Needle is 3/8-5/8 3/4 throttle opening.
Realize that ALL circuits overlap to where pilot/air screw actually have a slight effect on full throttle.
Talking to the carb parts suppliers should help a lot. Be sure to stress you are at high elevation.
 
Also you might have to even change things like slide or emulsion tube.

Do you know how to do a proper plug chop? You also can do part throttle plug chop.
 
Have watched videos on plug choping. Still unsure about what color I'm looking for and burn ring position?
 
The smoke ring is down by where the ceramic insulator meets the steel body. You want a cardboard brown or slightly darker color.

If you get an illuminated magnifying glass/lope you can just read the plug without actually cutting it.

310 currently; plug chop sequence not completed since latest modifications

Middle

**Additional Mods worth noting: lightly ported cylinder (all exhaust porting, polishing only on intake), Boydstun reeds and cage, decked head .010.**
