OKKK so i got a fmf system on my blaster tonight no air box lid .040 over bore if it matters. and boysen power reeds... for jets i have 220 230 270 280 and 300 just in case.... now i know eight of the rider wil effect how it needs to be jetted also.. since heavyer rideer puts more of aload on the motor... seems alot of what i read says just a fmf pipe calls for a 240-250 jet.. so im guessin with no lid fmf and my 250 pounds 270 should be about right???




im not stupid when it come sto motors.. i know cars alot better... i can tune a carburated car damn good..... but 2 stroke jetting is a biiisshh for me.. i got the tuning figured out, but i am having issues with the jetting part... lol..
 
its more trial and error from what I experienced, itll bog in the upper rpms if its lean. full throttle chop will tell if ur in the ball park. ride in 3rd or fourth after warm up for about a blocks length, pull the clutch and kill switch for the chop.
 
haha, yeah i just did my tuning in the street, but i would go with a 270 close the air/fuel and turn out 1 full turn, then 1/8 turns after that, thats how i narrowed it down.
 
i putt he 270 in... a/f screw 1 1/2 half out... nice crisp throttle responce going from idle and wide open.. the few passes i made down the road, had no bogs any where in the rpm range, no flat spots, no hessitation, and no pings.. dont have enough time or room on my 'road test' to do a plug chop or ride hard enough for 10-20 min to read the plug, but sh*t im sure the 270 is alot better than the 230 that was in it
 
fmf says to have a 270 with the airbox lid on and the needle in the middle position and i use a 290 also with basically the same mods
 
i know this is hard to belive but my friend is still running the stock jet in his he has lid off full FMF and uni filter and its so lean its not funny but no detonation so far. haha soon though!
 
haha i know i told him he should change it but he still has yet to i even offered to do it for him but still no. so im laughin when it finnaly does go! haha
 
yeah well he isn't going to be too happy when he has to rebuild it. or as bad as he could lock it up and have the piston stuck. now that would suck!
