Is this cylinder trashed?????????????

Well I thought I would be a nice guy and help out somebody. I was going to sell my extra 3mm stroker motor and take this motor as partial payment. I would basically be paying 50 dollars for this complete motor. I told him to send me some pics of it and I almost fell on the floor when I saw this. Is this something I can straighten out. Ken built my 240 stroker motor and he cut the bridge out.

Question #1 can I cut the bridge out?
Question #2 can I even up the intake without it running like chit?

Exhaust port doesn't look it has been polished and hopefully it isn't hacked up like the intake.

Yes it is. I think it's pretty well shot. I just don't know what effect this would have on tun ability and power delivery.

Wow, that looks bad! If it needs a bridge, can you cut the bridge out of the cylinder and put in a new sleeve with a bridge in it?

I think you still have enough bridge to hold a ring.
The intake is not a crucial as the exhaust and transfers, yup, you can make something with this.

Already WAY too much metal taken off here, I'd consider this intake as a candidate for epoxy buildup.
You could even up the sides of the ports, but it really doesn't matter much.
Mock up the engine and have a good look at how far you can raise and lower the ports.
Do NOT thin the bridge any more, leave it crooked rather than thin it.
Then build it up in epoxy, fill the volume.

I do believe that this could be made good by the "Best" method of epoxy.

There is still a bridge uneven as it is, it will hold a ring in there.

Luckily the exhaust has not been massacred, match up the transfers, get the exhaust right and I do believe you can have a jug which will perform quite well.

Did you buy it off fred flinstone? It may be salvageable but the intake looks horrible and I wouldn't want to snag a ring on it,or have the bridge fall apart.It's just asking for more trouble.Blaster cylinders are a dime a dozen and imo may be a better option for you.The intake is not where the majority of the power is at but with a bridge like that there is only a few options left.I personally don't like risking the lower end with a top end toothpick intake bridge.

Are both the thrust washers on the rod? Doesn't look like it to me.

Dang....Ive seen worse, but thats rough. My biggest concern is the bottom end of that engine. It has seen water while apart. Both thrust washers appear to be there, but the rod and one thrust washer are rusted. If this is indeed the case when you get the engine in your hands, the crankshaft bearings are suspect, as is that rusty thrust washer. Id probably pay (or give trade credit towards) $ 50.00 for a whole engine that looks like this. The cases, covers, tranny, and head are worth that....but it looks like a major project if you want to have it running again. Do you want another project? My .02

Well I just found out that a k&n filter has mounted to the carb. The guy asked me "why does it always stall when I go through deep water?" So there you have it. Like I said in the first post this kid is 14 years old and short on cash. I always seem to be helping him out. I'm selling him my stroker motor for 600. Then I'm going to but it in his bike, jet his carb, remove his tors, and take his POS motor. I'm also giving him a stock airbox and k&n filter for free. Like I said I'm doing the kid a favor.

Not sure yet. I want to get it in my hands and I'll let you know. I think we might rebuild it and do some expermenting with the cylinder.
