Is it ruined? HELP!!

Okay so today I rode it for prolly 15 min stopped for an hour and rode another 15. Okay, so if I go out tomorrow do about 3 heat cycles tighten the head and go half way for another couple tanks I should be good? I didnt even go 3/4 I rode so easy that it sounden like a 4 stroke lol

"Heat cycling" on the first startup has one true purpose.... heat cycle the gaskets to allow them to compress and seal without running them under high vacuum.

If you rode it for 30 minutes, you've done your heat cycle.... Now check your top end nuts to make sure they haven't backed off any and rock out.

I know this will draw some ire from some folks but I don't take it easy, at all. I do 3 10 minute heat cycles (with a fan placed on the top end between them to cool it off faster) and then tear out. Break-in happens quickly and I want to get it done fast and thoroughly.

I don't specifically recommend that method to anyone else, just how I do my stuff. When I build an engine for someone else, I tell them to take it easy on it for the first half hour after the heat cycles and then go nuts.

Okay thanks man. Im going to go run the dog piss out of it... SIKE! But no really thanks, Im just going to go easy on the rest this tank and then ill go about 3/4 on the next and then go at it, maybe just a little easier than normal.

Nothing wrong with that... do it how you like. Before you ride it again, however... check your head and cylinder nuts for torque/tightness and leakdown check. I know your buddy told you it was sealed but that hardly means anything unless you saw him use a leakdown tester on the engine before he have it back to you.

A crank seal, base gasket, or intake gasket leak is #1 cause of people coming on here complaining of "engine revving up after rebuild" and "fresh bore and piston, siezed engine!". Leakdown test that engine yourself and PROVE that it's actually sealed.

More than once whilst at MX, I have fitted a new piston and rings into a fist honed bore.

Then gone straight out and rode the crap out of it, and the motor lasted the rest of the season.

But there is no way in this world, that I would recommend that you do that if you have the time to do it properly.

Re tighten the head and jug.

Ride this and the next tank of gas at no more than 3/4 throttle and all should be fine!
