Nothing wrong with that... do it how you like. Before you ride it again, however... check your head and cylinder nuts for torque/tightness and leakdown check. I know your buddy told you it was sealed but that hardly means anything unless you saw him use a leakdown tester on the engine before he have it back to you.
A crank seal, base gasket, or intake gasket leak is #1 cause of people coming on here complaining of "engine revving up after rebuild" and "fresh bore and piston, siezed engine!". Leakdown test that engine yourself and PROVE that it's actually sealed.
