after riding my dads alot this past weekend in the sand dunes i see why alot of people like them, they are fast seem like alot more then 250cc's, very light, square shaped frame thats very durable, you can whip these things around like nothing! very easy to pop a wheelie on and the powerband is awesome!!!

I'm assuming we're talking a TRX250R?

You're talking about how powerful a 250R while comparing it to a stock blaster with a FMF pipe? That's like comparing a Honda CBR600RR to a Yamaha Zuma 125 in their stock formats!

Sure, the 250R is light and nimble and puts out good power. It was built in the late 80's by Honda to compete in a competitive 250cc class.

The blaster was designed using a late 70's dirtbike knockoff engine as a good inexpensive starter quad.

That being said, you really need to compare an "updated" blaster to that 250R to get an actual comparison. I'm not talking a built stroker BBK blaster, but just a ported and head redesigned blaster to that competitively built Honda. Now, I'm not suggesting that anything other than displacement is going to overtake something in the same basic level of tune but you're really comparing apples and oranges now!

I have one on my wishlist. Not a bad quad, and they were raced for so many years that it seems parts are everywhere. But like Civic said, its kinda a poor comparison putting a piped Blaster against a vintage race machine. My Blaster is ported with head work, and although it will never be as fast as a TRX, it is much more fun now than in near-stock configuration.

yes i know its not a good comparison but its just amazing how much more fun it is to ride, im not dissing blasters but they rev out really fast, i will always keep my blaster because they are fun to ride but they are small. the trx is just alot bigger and much more room. and i did not know that the blaster was based off of a dirtbike

There alot of fun but the stock frame sucks. The square tubing isn't nearly as strong as a quad thats built out of round tubing plus factor in the frame being over 20 years old and you'll end up fixing cracks in it every other week. But if you think a stock cylindered 250r is fast, you should bolt on a ported 330. Then you really need to hang on!

yeah, my blaster frame is a 89 so its getting old to lol, the 250r is also easy to jump though. i would like to get a built 330 engine from ESR but i kind of like just having a clean mostly stock 250 theres not many clean stock ones around anymore

I've owned a couple R's and 245stroker is exactly right. The stock frames suck. I used to take a welder to the track with me because of stuff like this:

They are definitely better MX quads than the blaster and banshee, for how much you would have spend on the yamahas compared to the Honda.
