okay this is what i got, i was replacing my swing arm and i noticed that my rear sprocket has some play in it, i doesnt go side to side but it goes forward and backwards, what should i do, im having trouble getting those two bolts off thats by the sprocket , any help on that? and what does the sprocket sit on? im fearing my axel is bad, anyway any help would be great, thanks

Which two bolts by the sprocket? A pic might be good.

As for the movement, assuming your sprocket is still bolted tight to the sprocket hub, that sounds bad. Movement between the sprocket hub and axle (forward/back) indicates wear on the splines, but most likely to the hub, not the axle. The axle should be the tougher of the two. I'd buy a cheap used hub off ebay to try first.

One thought though, are you sure it isn't the whole axle moving in the carrier? Bad axle bearings are very common.

do you mean the 2 nuts right next to the sprocket hub? they will probably take some persuasion to get off....lots of penetrating lube (hehehehhe) maybe a torch, and a pipe wrench with a breaker bar

think he means the locknuts on the axle. big pipe wrench as described, what i did was instead of loosening the outer one [nearest the wheel] i tightened the inner one, this got them both moving, worked for me i read it in a manual for something and its great advice. use loads of penetrating oil, if all else fail get the gas torch on them
