again done a search threw the search option and cant get a clear answer on finding a answer. If i use the hotrods +4 rod am i going to trench the cases for the stroke.no speculation please just a straight forward answer from someone that has ran it and maybe a tip on how to do the trenching if recording.

Yes, the +4 crank needs the cases trenched. You can run a +3 without needing to trench the cases, and as I recall reading on here not too long ago, the cases are already not very thick in the areas which require trenching for the +4 stroker.

The cases will need to be trenched. I've seen this done by hand but the correct way to do it is with a machine. We use a Bridgeport. We clamp the case to the table and indicate the outer bearing race surface. This is important as the cases and race surface aren't concentric. Material is removed to obtain the required clearance. The cases become very thin in front of the counter balance shaft and where the dowel pins are located. The cases should be lapped after the machine work is complete.

I have done one by hand and let me tell you from personal experience, Ken's right! A milling machine is the correct way to go about it.

79bronco had some pictures of the trenching process somewhere on here. He ordered a stroker crank and the salesman told him a little fib..... he ended up having to put it in a milling machine and use the horizontal boring bar to remove the material.
