2 weeks ago I parked the bike because the throttle cable snapped. Today I put the new cable on and started her up, then noticed a hissing sound coming from the front end of the bike. Not sure what it could be so any help is appreciated

I checked around the reed cage, intake boot, and made sure the plug was tight. I don't think it is gaskets because I didn't have the problem before. It does run on the hot side now though.

Sounds like a head or base gasket is leaking. Is it a constant hiss or does it sound like it leaks during the upstroke of the piston.

only way your gunna figure it out is to take it apart and inspect it,and if you do you should replace the base gasket with a oem,or cometic base gasket, but it maybe more simply then removing everything, there is a o-ring in pipe to help seal to the flange... leak test spray with soapy water around area,to see if it bubbles..ect

Planned on it already. I took the exhaust off while the bike was down, cleaned it up and painted it black to make it look better. Also checked inside the cylinder but I didn't even think to look for a gasket. This could be the problem..hmmmm. Seeing that it's the only thing tinkered with around the engine lately

alot of people put copper rtv on it to seal it better, when i got mine it was leaking but no hissing sound?,check for cracks, hairline fractures, hole,if it is a stock pipe the baffle inside whatever..lol:)

The hissing is what gets me. I guess it fell off when I took off the pipe. I'm going to buy a gasket kit anyways bout time for em

If the header pipe was leaking it would explain the reason that it got hotter than before.

An 2 stroke engine must be leak free from the air filter to the exhaust pipe otherwise a lean condition will develop and overheating will happen.
