Damn this thread exploded fast! Without reading everyone's comments I am just going to "lend" an opinion and you take it if you can understand it.
As Americans we are generally raised to go to school, study hard and try achieve success. Its pounded in to us from early childhood and pounded in us in school and even the work place. We are all after financial security to pay for the lifestyles we enjoy.
Not once when I was seven years old did my dad sit me down and explain to me that if I wasn't smart enough or capable of coloring within the lines would the government step in and do it for me or better yet just send me a coloring book already colored so that I wouldn't have to lift a finger on my own. Which in a sense is what the Democrats want for Americans. They cover it up with big powerful speeches that are meant to uplift you as Americans, but really is brainwashing you into feeling sorry for others less fortunate as well as yourself for failing. They want you to except that "YOU" are nothing without government assistance --->"Stimulus Checks" thus leading us down a road very far from Democracy and taking us towards Socialism. Trust me the government wants you to accept that they are essentially your "Parents" and you do as they say.
I wasn't raised that way, I work for what I want and need! I was raised to believe the way a man shook another man's hand spoke volumes about his character. When I feel like I need help or a miracle or a "change" I turn to myself. I don’t sit and wait for it to be given to me, I get out there and help others as much as I can simply from believing in humanity I prove to myself that I earned the help or miracle I needed. I make sure others know they can count on me in a pinch to be there for whatever support they need. I treat it as overtime compared to person I am on a daily basis. Basically saying I am not going to ask for anything without giving back 100 percent , and give another 50 percent more to say thank you to the person/thing responsible for lifting me out of the hole I was in.
Trust me guys I work in a place that gives away tons and tons of free stuff to the needy and less fortunate and I promise one man to anyone that reads this that two out of three that come through our doors litter trash on our front steps or have 20 inch rims on fresh painted older body cars, but needs our help providing diapers for their newborn.
President Bush has made mistakes, but he had a plan to keep us as steady as possible. He and his advisors knew our country was heading downward ten years ago. This economic crisis didn't happen overnight!!!! And it sure as hell did not stop as soon as our new president was sworn in.
People need to sit down with their wives husbands, kids or simply just by themselves and keep track for exactly one month of every single dollar they spent on a lavish that in this economic crisis they could deal with out for a couple of years while the economy repaired itself. And really see dollar for dollar how much has been used on something that they felt they could afford so easily that it wouldn't ever be a problem EVER! I guarantee you would find a good 80 percent of the country dust their selves off of their fallen pride and get out there and lift "OUR" economy without the billions and billions of dollars being shelled out to fix this mess.
I’ve done this test aimed at myself and this is what I figured out.
Me for example:
900 min a month with unlimited texting
89.95 x 12 = 1079.40
One pack of cigarettes a day
4.00 x 7 x 52 = 1456.00
Est. 3 pairs of shoes I didn't have to
have to do anything in particular other
than to look nice
3 x 60.00 = 180.00
Probably purchased 12 cds that I simply
could have sacrifice by listening to the FM
12 x 12.99 = 155.88
Not to mention the crap I buy at the gas
station when I buy those cigs or gas that
could have done without and just packed my
lunch and snacks from the fridge in my home
$ who knows $ but for sake lets estimate $2000.00
Comes out to about 2871.28 dollars that was just a short list for you guys. Thats way more than any stimilus check and I wasn't even done listing my wasted expenses. My point is that I have been raised to have more respect for myself and simply can not respect a government that promotes hand-outs without criteria. We simply can't give people everything they desire because they don't want to work or don't want provide some kind of a service for that handout.
Go out and ask ten people to do 40 hours of community service in order for them to receive the newest stimulus check that "YOUR" new gov't is about to issue. Tell me the results, better yet tell yourself the results!!!
Trust me it cost millions to maintain the small dilapidated parks owned by this state I lived in and the work could be donated and save us the deficit it causes.
In parting I just want to say these are my thoughts and I hope you read them and determine for yourself whether you feel its ok to sit back and take the handout the gov't is offering or stand up for what every soldier, farmer, steel worker, worker period, that has been working long enough to earn a retirement has believed to be the honest way of earning a living? This thread has inspired me enought write what I wrote so I gave it enough respect to go back through everyone elses opinions. What I can say is that there is a few of you that feel just like me.

the problem with obama is he promised so much stuff that he can't deliver, add that to the fact that a lot of the black people voted for him means he's the president now.
He is trying to patch up with the middle east and arabs, but all of the citizens hate him and America. I think he should stop trying to be the middle easts new best buddy but rather start helping the american citizens, and sort out the economy after all he is the president of america.
yes bush did a lot of stupid things but when he was president, america was a super power. yes when bush was president there were the 9/11 attacks but if the troops hadn't gone into iraq how many more attacks could have happend. what do you think obama will do when the terrorists start killing people, let them go and forgive them. before obama starts making friends he needs to sort out america and put the American people first.

So your logic is by Bush invading Iraq he was able to suppress 100% of these would-be attacks? That's pretty impressive.
