ok so I just got my Blaster back together I painted everything, and when I start it, it runs but I have to keep on the throttle about 1/8 to keep it running and its revving pretty high, and when I let off it dies very fast, and when I rev it it seems to mis-fire.. I'm sure all the wires I have hooked up right now are the right ones the colors match up, the connections are clean, its obviously getting spark, gas, i have the plastics on so it has the filter.. I'm not sure guys!

Could be an air leak around the reed cage.
Did you mess with the motor at all?
Maybe there is water under the stator cover?

This describes what is going on with my Blaster and I didn't do anything major. Sorry to take the focus off of your quad, just had to say that since it is identical to my problem. :(

I didnt take the engine apart and I didnt paint the boot, everything seemed to be tight, I'll clean the carb tonight I bet one of the jets is clogged..

yea I did the ground the one up front under the headlight, I doubt its the reeds I didnt take anything off the engine past the carb, but I'll check and make sure nothings in them and make sure they arnt broke and then tighten them down, I havnt done anything yet I had to work tonight, I might clean the carb after I eat but its really cold out and I dont have heat haha. I'll keep you guys posted, thanks for the info!

I just cleaned the carb, didnt look bad a few specs of dirt I cleaned out the jets and everything.. still runs crappy.. I work all day tomorrow till 6 so maybe I'll poke at it again tomorrow night I'll probably check the reeds and maybe I'll get new gas for it or something.. I'm not sure guys

yea I'll check the reeds after I get out of work at 6, thanks again guys, really helps to have people that help!

reeds are fine, bolts were just bairly tight, but when i pulled the cage out, this is what i saw! I have no idea what this is and im sure its not good..

Like i said, when i start it starts in a few kicks just like normal, can rev perfect, but that bottom part just drops off for some reason, and its not like the idle is too low because the last part that the throttle will keep it running is like 1/5 rpms off idle so its not getting down to idle before it lets itself die.. Im not sure guys!

You got a ground where the coil connects to the frame also. Im not sure where the other is. Make sure that is clean too. In the picture of your motor i think that is just paint. Somebody correct me if im wrong but arent the ports painted when new? Looks like worn out paint corroding off.

oh jesus haha I was scared I was going to have to rebuild my engine! I'll have to make sure the coil ground is free of paint I dont think I did that one yet.. this is getting pretty frustrating though haha, thanks for your help guys dont know what I would do without it!

I fixed the problem! it was when the throttle was almost all the way let off, I took the cover off the throttle and i saw that little sensor and it would get pressed in right when it was dieing so i held it at half throttle and pressed the button in with a little screw driver, and she died! not exactly sure what it is you guys will have no let me know but i took it out for now and im just going to tuck it behind my headlight haha. she runs perfect now!!
