Just picked up a 2000 Blaster last weekend for about $900. Overall it is in good shape but needs some work. Dude I bought it from did some weird stuff to it, stated he was setting it up for racing. First glance, there is no rear brake, not a big deal, I want to put hydros on it anyway, he just saved me the hassle of ripping the old ones off. It is in need of a kill switch, the one on it is seized up in the on position...thinking he did that too. I'm wanting to convert it to a thumb throttle. Last but not least, the clutch might be shot in it. It starts up with 2 or 3 kicks, but doesn't move when I put it in gear...guy told me the clutch needed replacing. I took the cover off tonight and saw the outside friction plate not with the rest of the stack of plates, but it was outside the clutch basket. I'm gonna tear it down all the way this weekend and make sure all the parts are there before I buy a replacement assembly...something tells me he didn't have it adjusted properly either, there was loose screws and bolts all over the machine and under the clutch cover. Before I get going too far, anyone want to throw some tips my way for checking out the rest of the machine? Also, any suggestions for parts that I'm looking to upgrade/replace? I don't mind turning wrenches and getting dirty, but technical jargon only baffles me, so feel free to patronize me and dumb down the talk.

Also, I live near a sweet new ATV park here in WNY. I also ride a 2010 Can-Am Outlander 500, all for the mud baby!!! Anytime anyone wants to go riding, let me know, I'm always up for it. Thanks.

Welcome! People should be along later to saw hello too. I live in the southeast regions of NY so I am probably far away from you. What atv park do you ride at? For working on your blaster, we can help you with anything! Read up on all the stickies because they have lots of very helpful stuff. Oh, and pictures are a must!

to the op, welcome aboard man, i go up to penn yann a few times a year. nice country up there I:I

Thanks fellas. The new park is, well, it's been officially open for about a year and is located in Andover, NY, called Tall Pines ATV Park. All in all, they have about 70 miles worth of riding, they were on Brian Fisher's ATV World about a month ago. They have a web site and a facebook page. Ok, enough free sponsorship for TPAP. For those who asked, I live in Allegany County, in a little town just north of I-86 (old 17) right on the Genny. Let me know where your from, PM if you want, maybe we can throw a ride together.

As for uploading pics, I will get there, I just have priorities right now....like getting it to move forward with power. I:I I just got done monkeying with the clutch tonight, :o, the previous owner, in my professional opinion...MORON! :p He didn't do anything right, thank Blaster God for the great YouTube video from jlsparky7. I took everything apart down to the clutch basket and then put it back together just to see...well, the clutch feels better, the pressure plate rests down near the basket now and HEY, I adjusted it up properly. Think I need a new cable though. Well, regardless, I think I have it adjusted up too tight because it will fire and stall immediately. I give it a bit of gas and it stays running, but as soon as I'm off the throttle, kaput, it stalls. Tomorrow when the frustration resides, I will go and loosen it up...I'm thinking it is the five springs, I might have tightened them a bit too much. Learner's remorse. :-[

I have one question, dude who owned it previous said it was oil injected. I looked for the reservoir under the seat and there was nothing but the most nasty looking air filter I've ever seen. Other than reading, 8-|, can someone give me a little advice on where to look for the shutoff plate if it has one? Or if I looked in the wrong spot for the reservoir? Where on the carb would the oil tube being located...sitting on the machine, right or left hand side?

Okay, thanks fellas...and AWK....thanks for the link on the manual. I will print off a couple copies and put one in each bathroom....trust me, I will have it read by the end of the weekend. :-[

Welcome to the dirt pile, Dude!

Oil injection reservoir is mounted opposite side of the silencer right next to the airbox. Yours may have been deleted, which would be a good thing. Pre-mix to 32:1 and you'll be be good to go. There's a small nipple on the pipe side of the carb where the oil injection tube runs. If the system has been deleted, then that nipple needs to be plugged.

The manual should show diagrams of all this stuff for you ;)

Thanks Piezzi, once I decode your message 8-| into lehman's terms, I'll checkout what you've just told me. Really, I don't yet have a clue what you just said, except for nipple, I know what that is. :D Don't worry, I will be doing my home work and reading the bible...eh hem...manual this weekend.

Here's a few pics the previous owner sent me, forgot I had them. By the way, what are stickies that other members are referring to?

Stickies are at the top of each of the forum's sub-sections.

layman's terms: The stock bottle (reservoir) the pre-mix oil is poured into will be located under your left rear fender....if it's there. If it's not there, then the PO removed (deleted) it and you'll need to manually pre-mix your gas to 32:1........which comes to 4oz of pre-mix oil for every gallon of fuel you use.

Welcome to the BlasterForum! I know where Tall Pines is.....it's around an hour-hour and a half away from me. I have been there once before. Not as big as majestic, but has lots more mud!

LMAO...that kills me. I knew what the stock bottle and removed/deleted were. I:I I was more so talking about the silencer and the pipe side of the carb. :-[ That's ok though, I'll get it figured out.

I haven't ridden at Majestic yet, heading to Denton with some friends the weekend before July 4, and I'd like to hit Demon Trails near Hornell this year. I've been to TPAP about 6 or 7 times, they keep adding trails and they are grooming the trails now, so the ruts aren't as bad....of course, I've only ridden there on my 2010 Outlander, so ruts didn't mean much....but the mud, ahhhhh the mud. Hey...we're here to help :). The exhaust system has two parts: (1) a head pipe that's installed to the engine head and a (2) silencer that connects to the head pipe and allows the exhaust & smoke to exit the engine. The pipe side of the carb is the side opposite from the choke side.
