got a 2001 yz 250 for my blaster

motor is being packed up today and sent off to ken this week I:I, still havent gotten my arms from chasis fab yet. it has been almost 5 weeks since ive put my order in. still need to get the material to finish up my swingarm. i did get the nerfs to fit, i ended up cutiing the nerfs off at the edge of the frame and then welded a 2 tubes onto the frame and the nerfs slide on them and held on by a bolt. also got the yfz master cylinder bracket made and welded on the frame and i ran the ressie to where it will be right under the seat beside the cfm airbox

I cannot believe I just stumbled upon this thread.
I thought I read every swap thread going but missed this somehow.
Killed a couple hours I should have been out in the garage working, but it was worth it.
Learned a lot, enjoyed seeing your picts, and it linked me onto some other pages too.
Besides, I pranged my knee a bit while out hammering the KTM.

I am putting a KTM 250 into a Blaster at:
http://www.blasterforum.com/engine-mods-swaps-129/ktm-powered-blaster-36107/

YZOtis made the point of how a lot of these swaps start but don't finish.
So true in life as a whole. Easy to imagine something, talk about it, start it, but get
mired down in the details of what it takes to get it right. People cannot imagine the
number of times something is put together, then taken apart again. Easy to sit back
after it is done and see another way, but when you are in the middle of it...
Well, that takes real vision.

Great work, keep the pictures coming!

lookin good bro, cant wait to see it runnin...hurry up!!

haha im trying mang!! still got a little ways to go even when the motor gets done. gotta build a swinger so i can have rear brakes because i sold my awks rear brakes too early . i fixed the problem of the kicker hitting the heel guard today by bending the heel guard back with a big piece of pipe B). im gonna end up making a bigger piece to weld on the kicker so my boot doesnt slip off because it only has a half inch of clearance to the heel guard. still have the lower radiator hose issue to deal with but i belive i can work that out pretty easy. im on the lookout for a rear fox podium shock but i may have to run a 400 ex shock until one gets in my price range.

thanks!!!! your build is coming along pretty good, otis is right not many of em finish em or just talk about doing it. it doesnt take very many tools to build one because ive built most or all of my brackets with a grinder. but it sure would be nice to have the proper tools to get a little better fitment. i have a spare frame laying around that ive already thought of doing again with a little bit different design but that will be for later on ;). ive changed brake setups atleast 3 times, welded on a mount and ended up going with a different master and have to build another bracket. my motor has been in and out of the frame atleast 50 times . started out with a pretty good front end but decided to go a different route on those as well. a bunch of my friends think im crazy for building my motor for the last part but i knew if i had a good motor ready to rip that i would rush through it wanting to ride, instead i had no reason to rush and took my sweet time lol. but its almost ready to ride, hopefully by the time ken gets done with my motor i will have all the little nic nacs done and just waiting for the motor.

hahaha, u need a set of hydros? lol i thought all ur fab work was done?

lol na i got the full yfz 450 rear setup but it will only work with a round house carrier that i have. i carved out a brake plate to accept the yfz caliper. most of the fab work is done besides the swinger. im hoping to have an aluminum welder soon so i can finish up my cfm box, i never posted pics of what ive done with that but it was an easy fix.

no more updates as of now still waiting on parts. HOPEFULLY my arms will arrive by the weekend or early next week and my motor is sitting at kens now. so shouldnt be too much longer and ill finally get to try it out!!!

My arms finally came in from Chasis fab today woohooo!!!! I wont be home from work until next thursday to put em on but ill get some pics up when my wife texts me some

geez, u might finally get the bike done so u can ride it!! lol bout time! oh if u still got those rims im going to take em off ur hands soon...

Yup still got em bro, they waiting on you. It wont be much longer now, kens is already getting the parts for my motor, got 442's swingarm coming after that all I need is a rear shock, a chain and a couple little nic nacs and its time to ride.

got a little update. i ended up getting a descent deal on a stage 4 elka elite rear shock from a classified ad a member posted on here awhile back and i got it in the mail today. its in pretty good shape and is only 2 years old according to elka. its valved at my weight and just feshened up about 6 months ago but i will need to get a new main spring because its going on a longer swingarm than what it was sprung for but im gonna ride it first before i buy anything for it.

had a couple members wanting to see the front shocks that im running so ill just post the pic here of them too

put them bad boys on already your torturing me

id love to but the shock mounts were off on the arms and had to be rebuilt and its in the process of that now and getting a different color on the powder. lew has been pretty good about redoing my arms so we get it just right for the long shocks but here is a pic of the arms that i got at first, im going with the same color green for the upper arms but going black on the lowers with green letters instead. i think they will look pretty sweet that color and the bends in the lowers just sets these arms off from the rest.
