got a 2001 yz 250 for my blaster

cut out my brake plate from the piece of aluminum today and now my yfz 450 caliper fits just great, no extra brackets or spacers. also got my 2.5" piece of aluminum pipe in today so i got my cfm airbox to work. angle took me awhile to get but it will definetly fit right now, now i just have to get it to an aluminum welder to finish it up.

brake plate i built, cut it out with a cut of wheel and a grinder. i still have a little bit of shaping to do on it then its gonna get a good polish

btw, what valving is the elka rear for the 400 ex at?

im thinking that my 450 elka rear will be a tad bit too stiff

man im slacking on my build, love the nerfs... but damn i want some houser bounce ones

Does houser even make those needs for a blaster? I bet they would be 500 bucks

Its was valved for a 175-200lb rider. I couldn't tell u how it rode because I sent it back, the spring was messed up. Call and talk to the guys at Elka and tell em your putting that 450 shock on a blaster and lemme know what they say.

Already talked to a guy at elka, I told him my set up and my size and he recommended valveing it to a 400 ex 160 pound rider. Im having hygear do the revalving, once u pay for it the first time, whenever u want a revalve, its free for the life of the shock. So I'm not to worried about getting the valveing done right the first time, it'd just save me from sending it to them again.

And no houser doesn't, but I'm goin to try to fab them onto the blaster.

not only is the valving way different did u check the spring weight of those shocks compared to the blaster spring weight? u will want that spring weight close to the blaster spring rate for it to not be too stiff. with an extended swingarm the spring weights could be close to the same but i dunno.

He said that the main spring should be about a #300 spring with about a #200 as ur secondary, this was for a plus 3 swinger. The 400ex and 450r use the same shock btw, so the difference just lies in the valveing and spring rate (same body for the blaster as well).

well there is a 180 lb difference between the blaster spring weight and the 400ex spring weight, that is gonna play a big role. just what the guy was telling me. when you get a ride on it lemme know how it feels. im still in the market for a good rear elka off something lol. not too many blaster elkas come up too often

got a few parts in the mail today, racesin nerfs with integrated heels guards, brake clamps and a rear rotor. wouldnt you know it the nerfs are gonna have to be modded up to fit right because the bars come into the frame right where the pipe is. im gonna have to cut some of the nerfs off and weld a tube on the frame for the nerfs to slide on and then just put a bolt through it. gonna have to shorten up my kicker because it hits the heel guard

nerfs look sweet, too bad they dont fit right

yeah its sucks, they would fit perfect if i didnt swap the motor. it will be an easy mod tho. just cut the end off the nerf and weld a small piece of pipe on the frame. hopefully my a arms come in tomorrow or saturday.

I was thinking of the same thing, putting a yz 250 in the blaster, sounded like a good idea to me, wondering about certain things as well like coolant, mounting. i would like to know how yours comes out.
